Help with ProFlight Emulator Deluxe for FSX

Featured Replies

I am hoping someone can help with this: I just got PFE Deluxe and seems easy enough to get running. Only problem is that I can't seem to hear the controller talk to me or me talking to the controller. If I leave everything as the default fsx settings then I can here the controller (let's say in a British Voice) talk to other aircraft but not mine. Couple of questions here since I am new to this software: How do I disable the Default FSX ATC so that I don't hear that in the background, and also will this program not work if I don't use the Hotkeys in the manual? I apologize but I am just a bit confused here. Thanks in advance for any help.Pete

Hi Pete,I'm not familiar with PFE, but to disable the default ATC, I would suspect it's a combination of unchecking all options in the FSX ATC settings menu under the general settings catagory and/or possibly removing the FSX ATC sound files in the FSX sounds folder (USEnglishBig.gvp and USEnglishASOS.gvp). I would uncheck the options first. They didn't specify in the manual? Hope it helps.

Qyestion of disabling FSX ATc has been asked here many times before , and the answer has been to do with disabling something or other in FSX menu, BUT NOT AS DRASTIC AS MESSING AROUND WITH FSX SOUND FILES, FSX IS TEMPERMENTAL ENOUGH DONT PUSH IT BY MESSING WIHT SOUND FILES.Search Avsim fsx forum for "fsx atc disable" even google, sure youll get answer swiftly.BUT DONT MESS WITH FSX SOUND FILES.EDIT tHE QUESTION IS answered here, GOOGLE IS YOUR FIRENDhttp://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:a0IVK...=clnk&gl=uk

Good Morning Pete:Regarding how to "disable the Default FSX ATC", At the top of your FSX display, click "Options>Settings>General" Remove the check marks from all three options under "Air Traffic Control".First of all, do you have your comm. radio frequency set to the correct frequency? PFE may ignore you if you do not.Secondly, are you pressing the "0" key on your keyboard (with the correct "Clearance" frequency) in order to get started?I am a bit confused relative to what you describe in the rest of your situation. You state: "I can't seem to hear the controller talk to me or me talking to the controller." Later in your paragraph, you state: "and also will this program not work if I don't use the Hotkeys in the manual?"Are you trying to communicate with ATC by keyboard "Pilot Commands or Messages", or are you trying to communicate by voice recognition (useing a microphone)? You must either use your keyboard with the assigned requests to ATC (i.e "0" for "Checking In" or "E" for "Mayday Mayday Mayday"), or give your Pilot commands or messages by voice commands through your microphone by the implementation of some voice recognition program. The voice commands will not work without this added software. The old default program was GameCommander2 which I use. There may be others, but I have no experience with them. I would also suggest that you post your questions on the "Oncourse" forum site and select the "PFE Support" link: http://www.ocs-support.co.uk/forums/index....34010eb2f7d5c37Dave March is very helpful and if you will address him in a reasonably courteous manner I am sure he will get back to you with a reply quickly.Good luck:RTH

O.k. it seems I am definitely guilty of user error. To confirm, I will uncheck the ATC boxes, and then I have in fact tried to communicate with ATC using the default commands (not voice recognition though). So the first step is that I need to use "0" to get started? I will try that. Also, is the comm frequency automatic? I see the dialogue on the screen but just can't hear it. Also, should I not be using the default on screen dialogue? I thought that if I check VC copilot 2 option is takes care of the radios for me. Is that not correct? Thanks!

I'd be curious to hear from someone who has used Radar Contact 4.3 and ProFlight Emulator Deluxe. How does PFED compare as far as procedures and realism?

Warp, I seriously think you need to chill 1. I first advocated unchecking the ATC boxes in the settings menu to resolve the OP's issue - turns out it was correct.2. "BUT NOT AS DRASTIC AS MESSING AROUND WITH FSX SOUND FILES, FSX IS TEMPERMENTAL ENOUGH DONT PUSH IT BY MESSING WIHT SOUND FILES." ......................Lol, I'll remember that the next time I "mess" around with Editvoicepack and customizing GPWS/TCAS/Engine and other sounds.3. nevermind :( Pete, glad you're up and running.

Kendall - I think Warpair was just trying to save Pete from causing lot's of other problems by deleting or modifying sound files, just to turn off default FSX ATC, which we all know is a simple task in FS Settings, not changing any sound files. Quite a good call I thought, but perhaps the capital letter were a bit much!Davido.

Thanks for the help. I did get everything running but then ran into another problem that Dave March is helping with over in the PFE forum, seems that PFE no longer wants to start! I guess if it wasn't for all of these fun problems we'd have nothing else to talk about!
