November 25, 200916 yr Hey guys,Have been out of the game for a while. Computer also didnt help as it crashed and lost everything! Now im in the process of re-installing FS09 again (on laptop). As im a real life pilot now who is in the waitinglist for a major airline, i want to practice certain things using i.e. pmdg 737. Not really interested in VFR as i can do that in real life now :)My question is what important updates do i need for FS09 to run smooth? I believe there were someofficial updates? Anything else?Hope someone can help!cheers
November 25, 200916 yr There was only one offical update to FS2004 (FS9) that I am aware of.You can get it here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enBe sure to read ALL of the instructions and run the update (the exe file) from your main Flight Simulator 9 folder.
December 8, 200916 yr Author Thanks for that. What about like scenery updates, weren't there files like Ultimate Terrain and that sort of stuff to improve over all visual? (freeware)cheersNick
December 8, 200916 yr The main add-ons for visual improvement (UT, Ground Environment Pro, Flight Environment (REX also available now for fs9) are all payware. If you need realistic roads, coastlines, etc, I'd def recommend buying UT. There are also mesh (ground elevation) add-ons such as FSGenesis or FSGlobal. FSGenesis does have a few packages that a freeware, esp for the US. I'm sure there are other freeware programs that attempt to do something similar, but def not as good. I suggest you search this forum thread for add-ons, as many have been discussed throughout. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
