November 26, 200916 yr Hi all,Is there a way to make the brakes harder?I am constantly overruning the runway although I touch down correctly. The brakes seem to be very "soft".Any way of making the breaks harder? Thanks,Christos
November 26, 200916 yr Hi all,Is there a way to make the brakes harder?I am constantly overruning the runway although I touch down correctly. The brakes seem to be very "soft".Any way of making the breaks harder? Thanks,ChristosAre you braking manually? If so, why? Normal braking should be set at Medium on the autobrakes. You are also deploying spoilers and reverse thrust I assume? These two are actually engaging? No reason for you to overrun a runway unless you are attempting to landing somewhere too short.BTW, there is an option to increase the braking "power", however, I have never seen a reason to use it. Under Equipment and Performance Options in the PMDG menu, look for Autobrakes High Deceleration Rate. Again, you shouldn't need this though provided your spoilers deploy, reverse thrust engages, and you brake with autobrakes. I don't know what the decel rate for manual braking is, but it might be much less. Also, make sure you're landing with only about 19,000 to 25,000 LBS of fuel on board. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
November 26, 200916 yr Author Hi Orlaam,Yes I am braking manually. I have assigned a key on the joystick.Does this cancel the autobrake mechanism? In case you are not braking manually, is autobrake engaged when spoilers deploy? What if you want to use some extra brake for a reason?BTW all other parameters (landing weight, spoilers armed etc) are ok.
November 26, 200916 yr Manual braking will cancel autobrakes.Autobrakes will only work when you have armed them. They are not engaged simply by extending the spoilers. If you need extra braking, you can either select a higher level on the selector, or brake manually.Paul
November 26, 200916 yr I believe autobrakes kick in basically once the spoilers deploy and throttles are idle, although some delays occur depending on the setting to allow for nose wheel touchdown. Braking manually will disarm the autobrakes, as will advancing the throttle, and obviously turning autobrakes to OFF.Either brake manually or with autobrake. If you think you need greater stopping power for shorter runways then set the auto to max. You should probably always use med in most other situations, although a long runway (12,000') might be fine with min.I don't have any data on how much the decel rate on manual over autobraking is, so I can't say if you have landed and aren't stopping fast enough if switching to manual will do any good. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
November 26, 200916 yr I think I read somewhere that the auto brakes kick in when the rear wheels spin up to a certain speed upon touchdown. That's if they are armed of course. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com
