December 5, 200916 yr Is there any way to just copy over WOAI packages from an old computer to a new one in lieu of downloading and installing all the packages with the installer?I have customized the flightplans and don't want to go through all of that again. I tried copying all of the airplane files and the world\scenery files to the new FSX installation but only get a few aircraft shadows at airports where the flights should appear. Art

XP, Vista or Win 7? If one of the latter, then you may need to turn off DX10 preview and/or experiment with a few other visual tweaks such as turning off aircraft shadows in order for the aircraft to display properly.Did you install the installer on the new computer? If so, be sure to copy over the file named WOAIDATA (no extension) from the old setup. This file houses all the data relating to the packages you have installed and will be needed if you wish to use the "expert mode" to make changes etc.Hope these ideas are helpful.

After manually copying files didn't work, I made a backup from the old computer with the installer using the expert mode, but it would not restore on the new computer. Art

Just a thought.
December 6, 200916 yr I just copied mine and it workedMy boot hard drive, with FSX died two weeks ago--awful mechanical noise but with a week of funny performance so I had backed up. I installed a new hard drive with a reinstall of xp home sp3. I had backed up the entire simobjects/aircraft files as well as my flilght plans on a second HD. I have about 30 woai plans, as well as many, many more ga flight plans that I've made myself.I simply "reloaded" the aircraft and the flight plans (aircraft in simobjects/aircraft and flight plans in scenery/world/scenery) and everything is there, and the FSX default aircraft are gone (the way I like it). The many airports I've redone to add parking also copied and reinstalled fine (addon scenery/scenery). I did back up the folders before I did this, just in case, as reinstalling of 6 years worth of programs has been endless. The only oddity I have noted is that the "prop" file on an AI Bonanza I have is messed up. I need to get into all 55 repaints and replace the prop file with a working one...don't understand this one, as I had it fixed before...)But as I tell folks at work, if you are getting computer advice from me, you are in serious trouble!!Garyxp home sp3ancient rig.....

December 6, 200916 yr "Apples and Oranges - the OP is using Win 7 and you are using XP."Thus the last comment in my post!!!!! But does win 7 write a "different" bgl file than xp or vista? It doesn't seem that the basic FSX files are different in the different OS. When I get "ghosts" of images, it's been because I have a texture file wrong or an error in the aircraft.cfg file. In my (probably wrong) mental image, the traffic file is looking for the image to display, but it's not there. Anyway, I should shut up 'cause I don't really know what I'm writing about, but was delighted that it worked for me in an xp to xp situation. My interest is real, as my 5 year old system really needs to be replaced for FSX, and if I build new and can't transfer to win7, I may just go with xp pro. Art, if you do figure this out, please post your solutionGary

Just a thought. The UAC was not a problem because I disabled it up front.I'm happy to say that I did it all over again manually and it now works, but I'm sad to say that I don't know what I did different, if anything. Basically, all I have done is copy the old aircraft bgls to the SimObjects\Airplanes folder and the old flightplan bgls to the Scenery\World\Scenery folder. Thanks for the encouragement. Art

So you don't end up with double aircraft liveries installations. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
December 6, 200916 yr Author Okay, I figured it out. To check how the traffic was working after the first install, I went to KATL. To check it again after the most recent install, I went to KMCO. It turns out that I had a KATL scenery file by Jim Vile installed that was causing the traffic to not appear at that airport for some reason. After deactivating this scenery, the traffic is back at KATL. However, FedEx and UPS is parked at passenger gates and Delta is parked in cargo spots. Oh well. Art

December 7, 200916 yr Author Jim Vile's scenery itself doesn't cause problems. (I have it) It's a problem in FSX SP2. You need to turn off aircraft shadows for the AI to appear.Apparently there is a feature in Jim's scenery that makes this necessary on my computers, because I don't have that problem anywhere else or at KATL without this scenery. On the other hand, turning off the shadows didn't cure the AI problem with this scenery. I checked the old computer with the same scenery and found that I had the same problem there and just didn't know it because I never flew into KATL.In any event, it doesn't matter to me because the scenery has such high detail that I can't get any framerates on either computer with it installed. It sure is pretty though. Art
