December 11, 200916 yr I just uped my vcard from a XFX 9800GT to a MSI 275GTX. I've been looking at that card for a few months thinking it's a very well made card and it is. But I see absolutely no FPS gain in FS9 or FSX. I used to get around 20 FPS in the Citation Mustang sitting at KFHR with fair weather and 275GTX gives me the same.I use 182.50 for both cards. Refreshed drivers and CFG files when I switched. Rest of my spec is E8400 o/ced to 3.67Ghz, 4GB DDR1066 ram, Win XP super clean install only for siming. Is there a better version of Nvidia driver for the 200 series cards? I switched from a EVGA 9800GTX-512Ram to the EVGA 275GTX-1792Ram and I can tell you that the difference is night and day. See my specs for both the CPU and GPU overclock. FTX really seems to love the extra ram in this card for it can hardly be challenged. This thing with 182.50 drivers works like a rocketship with far better FPS, smoothness and loading times than an 285 gtx I have compared it to. See Screenshot hereAnd hereAnd hereAnd hereAnd hereI use Enhancer, FPS Limiter, and certain FTX and Nick recommended settings. By the way, sliders are on full right with only autogen pulled one slot back.Stephen
December 12, 200916 yr Geeze, certainly not trying to insult your intelligence but do you have the FPS locked thus giving you similar results?Like Stephen's sytem I am running a 9560 quad clocked at 3.6mhz when I upgraded from a 8800GTX to a 275GTX and the performance increase was quite noticeable. I am also running 182.5 drivers on Vista 64 Nhancer tuned to NickN's recomendations as well. RE Thomason Jr.

I should not use the Mustang to test first of all. It is extremely hard on FPS on my machine. Using other addon planes (no addon heavies in my FSX) my FPS goes right around 60 flying over KFHR in default weather. I take that as reasonable. If I use light default planes I can get up to 100. This is the result after some tuning today. Now is that a big increase over my 9800? I don't think so. Marginal maybe. But I'm fine with that. I fly in FS9 99% of the time. In the heaviest addon plane at KJFK with traffic in heavy weather I can get right around 30 FPS. 9800 offered me the same. So FS9 is not vcard bound on my machine. And with my hardware I believe it's about as good as it can get and it's good enough for me. I'll certainly keep the 275 because it's such a well built card. It runs 20C cooler than the 9800.Can you guys let me know what kinda FPS you can get flying over KFHR in default weather? Thanks.p.s. next thing to look into is FPS limiter (thanks Stephen). The FPS lock in FSX ruins everything. JasonFAA CPL SEL MEL IR CFI-I MEI AGI
