December 17, 200916 yr Nick Needham stated in a prior post that you don't have to have Nhancer running active for it to be in effect. My question to all, is that if you do NOT have Nhancer (any version) running in the tray (in background) how is it 'aware' when either the FS9.exe or FSX.exe is activated?Does Nhancer install itself as a 'sniffer' process, which then calls up the Nhancer subroutines, when it 'sniffs' out a running flight simulator .exe file? Can anybody (Nick, if you are reading this) explain how Nhancer can come into play WITHOUT seemingly running the the background, ready to engage?Post edit: I think I got it...there is an nHancer.service running in the processes window, in the background. That must be the 'sniffer' that I was mentioning. If Nick is reading this, could you possibly verify that that is how you do NOT need to have it running in the tray/background? Thanks
December 17, 200916 yr I believe it loads the proper profiles in to the registry. For some reason mine doesn't do it automatically as it should, so i have to press the 'send profiles to registry' button and then I can exit it completely and the settings show up. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
December 17, 200916 yr AFAIK, nHancer does two things:the global settings makes registry changes which the nvidia driver reads and applies to the hardware.the profile settings edit the nvidia profile file which the nvidia cpl applet reads when the applicable exe is started. In both cases, the actual function is done by the nvidia driver/cpl programs. All nHancer is doing is changing the file data. The exception is if you set the option to have nHancer manually load a profile, which requires nHancer running in the system tray to actually load the profile.scott s..
