December 22, 200916 yr Hey guysI am coming into possession of a second PC that I was thinking of using to supplement my fsx setup and to try and offload some of the work of my main box.I know that with SimConnect I can have an accessory weather program like active sky.I was wondering what else I might be able to do, could I use it have it somehow generating traffic(would that even help), maybe tracking my flight, interfacing with Vatsin, or making a video, I don't know I am just spit-balling here, does anyone have a similar setup?Would it even help my system at all?
December 22, 200916 yr With Simconnect and/or WideClient, I use the following:1. FlightSimCommander2. PFE/Proflight2000 ATC3. FlightSimManager4. Active Sky Advanced5. AI Smooth6. FlightDeck CompanionWith a 64 bit primary and 32 bit secondary OS, more options are open for other uses as well.Good luck:RTH

I run Active Sky Advanced, Radar Contact 4, Plan-G (fantastic freeware moving google map), FSMap,Flight Sim Commander, Flight Operations Center, TOP CAT, FAA Digital Terminal Procedures (d-TPP), Navigraph nDAC3, Simplates X and Air Hauler. The obvious advantages are reducing the load on my server processor and viewing all of the features of each program without interrupting FS or opening additional windows within FS. Bob..:) Bob Prince
December 26, 200916 yr Perhaps someone can help me with a special problem. I have a CDUII unit from VRInsight. The device is connnected to a remote, networked (Ethernet) computer. The computer is running under Windows XP. The connections include USB and a graphics card connection. The graphics card in the remote computer supports two DVI devices - the CDUII unit and a flat panel monitor. This part of the connection works very well as both devices display the same thing at the same time. NOTE: The main FSX computer is running Windows 7.There is a program that links the CDUII device to FSX through panel addons much like a guage. This program also uses the payware version of FSUIPC. Here's what I would like to do. I would like to link the remote computer using the program, FSUIPC, SimConnect, and possibly WideView. I have all the software to support this possible solution but I have no idea how to implement the solution. Thus far I have installed the VRInsight software on the remote computer and used the interface to see if I can access the main computer's files. The interface allows the remote FSX-file access across the network. You have to install FSUIPC on the remote computer but I don't know where it should go. I also don't know if I need some FSX files on the remote computer. If I remember correctly, you don't need FSX on a remote computer to run various supported program.I would greatly appreciate someone's help in implementing a possible solution. NOTE: I do not have knowledge of these inner workings so it will probably have to be some detail instructions - sorry about that.Frank
December 26, 200916 yr OMG !!!! I'd love to have a simconnect rig. I have three computers. My moms Desktop (Win Xp32) (which is the one the satrellitel internet is hooked up to with a router)...its upstairs. Then, downstairs I have my FSX Computer (Win764bit), then next to it is my laptop (WinXP32). Is it possible to nextwork these together? Like they already have the internet but I cannopt get the computers to show up in a network, and I cannot learn how share files. The computers all connect to the internet but I cannot get them to regozine each other. I'd love to get this set up for X-mas, but I read read read and nothing ever work, and no one in my family is computer smart. I have, ASA, PFE, Radar Contart, Navigraph and Plan-G. I know that each program has instructions on how to set them up via FSUIPC or Simconnect, but thats usless until you get your computers all on a network right? Now how you do that is impossible for me. Any ideas?
December 26, 200916 yr Hi,Your best bet is to Google "setting up a home network" and reading about it that way. Every arrangement is a bit different, but it can be done!
