December 31, 200916 yr Good evening gents/ladies, hope everyone had a fantastic xmas and new year. Just today i purchased a new PC after my old one giving way on boxing day. After getting the Pc setup and installing fsx ok onto the Pc with no problems at all. The problem is that I cannot install SP1A or SP2? I get an error message saying."This service pack requires the original release of Flight Simulator x SDK, which you can find on Disk 1 of FSX deluxe edition. Please Install this first by running setup.exe from Disk 1 SDK directory and then start SDK SP1A installation."I tried uninstalling FSX and reinstalling to no avail. I'm currently running Windows 7 64bit full release with 4GB of RAM and Intel Core Quad Q8300@ 2.50GHZ. Has anyone else experienced this?Regards,Stephen O'Connell.
December 31, 200916 yr Hi StephenHappy New Year!I had FSX (including service packs) installed running Vista 64 - I went the 'upgrade' route to install Windows 7 64 with no problems at all (i.e. the 'upgrade' picked up and retained all FSX settings etc.)If you have the FSX original disks, I can't really see the problem here - have you tried installing the SDK area as prompted but still can't install the service packs? It sounds to me like you're trying to install an SDK service pack rather than the FSX packs.....?Toni.
December 31, 200916 yr I had problems installing FSX SDK SP1a on Windows 7 64-bit after a good install of the original SDK from the FSX disk. I was trying to install to path of my own choice. The problems went away when I accepted the default path. I was able then able to get an installation of the Acceleration SDK with no problem.FSX itself, through Acceleration installed and is running fine on my Windows 7 64-bit laptop. (Core 2 Duo P7550 2.26 GHz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650, 4 GB Ram).GW
December 31, 200916 yr Good evening Toni. What is the difference between SDK service pack and the FSX packs? Gallen144 where would I be able to get the install for the acceleration SDK.Regards,Stephen O'Connell.

Here are the correct ones:SP1SP2Funny how a topic can go off into a complete wrong direction. :(

January 1, 201016 yr What are the patches I downloaded from the microsoft site are they to do with FSX or something totally unrelated?SDK (simply put) is meant for people who want to make addons for FSX or edit specific things most users won't think about (again, simply put). SDK stands for Software Development Kit, which says it all, really. The FSX Deluxe version comes with a Software Development Kit and those patches you initially downloaded are meant for that kit. So the patches you downloaded are related to FSX, but not needed for normal usage. And happy new year to you and everyone else too! (And btw you HAVE to install SP1 first before you install SP2! Unlike most other patches, SP2 is not a cumulative patch!)P.S. Sorry about that SP1-link: the correct one IS in the link I posted (I always test links in my own post), but somehow while editing it I copied something wrong in front of it... Thanks Bill, for posting the correct one! Pity you can't edit your own posts anymore after some time...

Thanks Bill, for posting the correct one! Pity you can't edit your own posts anymore after some time...Huh? I've the ability to Edit my own posts YEARS after they were first made. In fact, I've taken the time to (re)edit most of my posts in the Aircraft and Panel Design forum that dated from before the upgraded forum software as well as some that had become "damaged" subsequent to the infamous "AVSIM Hack" event...This ability did not exist prior to the forum software upgrade from early last year...BTW, the SDK does have some interesting "tools" that may be of interest to folks who aren't necessarily into flightsim modeling, such as the Traffic Toolbox, which among other things has a pretty neat "radar type map" that displays all the AI traffic... ;) Fr.
