Widescreen resolutions

Hello Everyone,I hope this is not a stupid question. After 17 years of flight simming with a standard 4:3 monitor I have finally decided to move to a 24" widescreen LCD. Since they have an aspect ratio of 16:9 will this monitor running at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 give me oval gauges and distorted outside views with FS9 and FSX?Regards,Shally.

Did you mean 1920 x 1200?The panel will not be distorted in a VC or in the wide-screen format 2D panels that are starting to appear. For the rest, you can run FS9/FSX in windowed mode in a window that's 4:3 (i.e 1600 x 1200), and use the extra 300 x 1200 pixel stripe along the side for undocked windows like FMS, ADVDisplay etc.RegardsBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO

I'm sure he meant 1080, as I also have a 24inch thats 1920x1080...those are becoming more popular due watching movies on monitors and they are a good amount cheaper then the 16:10 monitors.

I have a DELL 2407 and Run FSX in 1920 x 1200 x 32 and it is not distorted at all. It looks very impressive In my opinion. If you do get a 24" you will not be dissapointed. Also make sure to make this edit in your config file.[Display]WideViewAspect=TrueIt optomises the screen for a wide screen monitor.
