P3D v3 new PC spec.
Hi I am just planning to make the leap from FSX to P3D V3 and after reading up on AVSIM for the last 3 nights I have come up with the following spec PC I am going to order from SCAN and had 3 questions below I was hoping for some help with. -Intel Core i7 6700K Quad Core with Hyper-threading Professionally overclocked to 4.6GHz -Asus Z170 Pro Gaming with Intel NIC and SupremeFX -16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 3000MHz -4GB EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX -2 x 250GB Samsung Evo SSD & 2TB HDD -750W Corsair RMi PSU -Microsoft Windows 7 pro 3440 x 1440 21:9 ultra-wide curved screen monitor Questions I have is 1 Do you think this would run the following add ons at a nice smooth 30 fps? FTX Global, Active Sky Next Rex 4 + Soft Clouds Traffic program PMDG 737 AND 777 Add-on airports UK2000, Aerosoft, FSDT, Fly Tampa ETC 2 Is the graphics card going to be up to the job of running the monitor at 3440 x 1440 or should I go for a 6GB card? 3 Am I better off going for a six core processor overclocked to 4.4 ghz? Any other advice appreciated Thanks in advance for any help Keithy

Is it best to have a separate ssd for P3D?
Hello Having used fsx for 7 years I'm going to go for p3d. Have been reading forums about this but can't determine definitive answer. I am going to buy a new pc to run P3D on and am wondering if people are getting better experience with a dedicated ssd just to run P3D? Thanks

FSDT USA Airport performance
Hi Just wondering if anyone has any must do changes to FSDT airports for improved performance, Reason being is I normally fly around Europe with around 40 airports from UK2000, Aerosoft, FSDT and Fly Tampa which I generally get really good smooth performance with. So the other day I got an email from FSDT saying buy there new George Bush airport and get others 50% so I thought lets have some USA flying so decided to install there trials of some of the USA airports, which when I did my normal test of sitting on active runway in PMDG NGX with UT2 traffic loaded I was getting 30 FPS so I thought right lets buy them. So after trialling these Las Vegas, Chicago , Dallas Fort Worth and George Bush I decided to buy them all and then waited for Friday night to do some PMDG 777 Flying. Well after flying from Airport to Airport I am getting terrible performance on approach, low FPS and stutters etc which is in complete contrast of my experience of flying in to UK2000, Aerosft airports in Europe where I get great performance. Not trying to knock FSDT because they are great and the airports are great and all the forums say great performing airports so was just wondering if anyone has some must try actions to improve performance on these as I want to use them but the performance is putting me off my 4 new shiny airport purchases. Thanks in advance

Couple Of Questions Re EFOB, PFPX And Step Climbs
Guys thanks for the suggestions. I see what you are saying, and about the CI yes I definitely match it to what I set it at in PFPX, in fact I do this because I originally watched Kyles video that explained to me how to use PFPX which made me buy PFPX and Kyle you emphasised then how important it is to get the same data picture which I took on board and have since applied. so yes I definitely match the CIs. Ill also try importing winds during cruise Interesting comment about the big fix too thanks Thanks

Couple Of Questions Re EFOB, PFPX And Step Climbs
Hi Been using 777 and PFPX for a while now and there are a couple of things bugging me that I wondered if anyone had any ideas about please? 1) I use PFPX to plan the flight and as a simple example on a flight like HESH to OMDB Sharm el Sheikh to Dubai 1250 NM it says on my flight plan that when I reach my destination I will have 10 LB fuel left at my destination. When I then enter up all the details into the FMC of the 777 as well as importing wind data etc and matching climb profile to the same as in PFPX the FMC will typically predict a much higher EFOB at destination of something like 15 LB. However as I do my flight the FMC EFOB number gradually decreases over time until when I am near my destination it ends up typically around the same as PFPX predicted in this example 10. So my questions is what is going on, why does the FMC of my 777 always predict EFOB much higher (15 LB) before I depart than it will actually be when I arrive (10 LB)? 2) A common flight I do is HESH to OMDB Sharm el Sheik to Dubai . 1250 NM ish I always set PFX to step climb 2000 and leave the altitude cap the same as the service ceiling And when I first started using PFPX my flight plans included step climbs which the 777 also did during flight. Lately however it seems for 3 months or so my flight plans do not include any step climbs and nor is the 777 conducting any Anyone have any ideas why this has happened? I.e PFPX is not creating step climbs anymore? Thanks Lawrence

01APR14 - PMDG 777-200LR/F Feature Preview - WX RADAR
As with everyone else I am excited by this news and was just hoping someone could answer a question please. I currently use REX for Weather injection. After reading the above I now want to buy ASN But my question is everyone is talking about running ASN on a networked PC. I do not have a networked PC . Just a single PC that I am reasonably happy with for performance and I do not feel the need to buy another PC right now... but i do want ASN to experience the wx radar in my 777 Do I need to have a networked setup to run ASN? If not and I run ASN on my single PC what is the downside of doing that? Thanks Lawrence

A new (NGX) version of the wonderful MD-11
I own the MD-11 and love it. I would pay the same I just paid for the 777. I would not expect any discount because I already own it.
-
So, how are you liking the 777?
For me it's a game changer. I think it is an absolutely amazing product. I own the NGX and that is too an amazing product. What I love about the 777 is it has introduced to a new type of flying. I only fly max 2 hour ish flights which has limited me to hops round Europe. But with the 777 and the excellent auto cruise feature which in my opinion is not talked about as much as it should be the 777 has opened up a whole new world to me of longer routes. Athens - Dubai that sort of thing. I think the auto cruise is brilliant. It is so smoothly done at 4x that you don't feel bad about skipping time ( if that makes sense) The 777 is also created so brilliantly by PMDG that it is such a joy to fly and a great experience. I can't describe why but it is a fsx experience like no other. The start up sequence is amazing. I also got PFPX which works great with the 777 and has enhanced the whole experience. The FPS is good for me too and all this for just £60. So for me I love it and can't wait for PMDG next product.

777-200 Passenger Capacity - What am I doing wrong!
Willy, Pete, Kevin and Vic Guys thanks very much for your input that really helps me thanks.

777-200 Passenger Capacity - What am I doing wrong!
As the title says I am confused about Passenger capacity with my 777 Since getting PFPX (thanks to Kyle Rodgers videos about it which made me want it!!) I am starting to get into more detail on things! Gotta love this hobby! If we take the Emirates 777-200 as the example here I have set it up a profile in PFPX as per the data from Matt Davies in this you tube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6cFl5uT-uo from 3mins 53 seconds where Matt lets us copy his settings. It says 301 for PAX capacity which I entered in my profile for PFPX for the Emirates, So once the I get the plan generated in PFPX I eagerly I go to set up my Emirate 777-200 in FSX to enter the PAX and fuel numbers that I intended to take from my Operational Flight Plan produced by PFPX where I had 261 passengers listed as pay load. So I got to the FMS on the 777 and go to enter payload, and this is where I am stumped... I can only enter up 14 for 1st class, 48 for business and 172 for economy, now that's a total of 234 which is way different to 301, I started googling this and have not been able to find an answer, except I did find that on Emirate website it says it's 777-200 holds 291 passengers again which is way different to the 234 that I can enter in my PMDG Emirates 777 As far as I can tell you can not adjust passenger capacity, and I don't remember doing so, so was just wondering if anyone had any ideas why my Emirate PMDG 777 only has a PAX capacity of 234 and not the near 300 that I think it should be. It is probably something really simple staring me in the face but I cant work it out and since buying PFPX the little details start to become more important and this is bugging me. I also tried loading different airlines such as Delta etc and the PAX capacity is also 234 Thanks

B777 with Autocruise Time Compression and Radar Contact 4.3
Just an idea. When using rc4 could you not just request for permission to divert left and right of course due to wx before warping to 8x which should then avoid the controller telling you you are of course.

Winds aloft import
Ok thanks Pete

Winds aloft import
Hi I have REX and the 777 Can I import winds aloft data from REX directly into the 777 via WIND DATA REQUEST on the FMC? or do I need to buy PFPX to be able to import winds aloft data from REX in to the 777 via WIND DATA REQUST on the FMC ? Thanks

Autothrottle - What am I doing wrong?
Hi, just wondering if anyone had any ideas what I am doing wrong. 2 things.... 1 I understand that the auto throttle will remain engaged, unless I disengage it. For example on my last flight I wanted to hand fly the approach and let the A/T handle the speed. So I disengaged the autopilot and hand flew the approach and the auto throttle seemed to handle the speed for a while, then I noticed my speed was dropping to an unsafe level like the A/T had been turned off but I had not dis engaged it. To get it working again I engaged autopilot, and turned A/T off and on again then dis engaged autopilot again so I could hand fly and this time the A/T controlled the speed. This has happened a few times now where I have left A/T on but it seems to stop working after a while. 2 Again Auto throttle related, I have noticed with the 777 (unlike the NGX) that if during flight with A/T engaged If I move the throttle lever on my Saitek throttle then this overrides the Auto throttle and speed is no longer controlled by the A/T unless I turn it off and back on again, is this normal behaviour? Thanks
