Thanks so far. I still have some questions about the HD 5870, hope you can help:1.) Does FSX internal Anti-Aliasing function work proper if DX10 preview is checked? AA does not work for me in FSX when I use DX10. Neither choosing AA through nHancer works in combination with DX10.2.) Does bloom work on DX10?3.) Are g-effects visual when using DX10 (black/red screen at positive/negative Gs) ?4.) AA works just like it always has in DirectX 10 preview, "in-game" only, meaning you cannot force it on FSX with the video card

Ingame AA does NOT work with my GTX-295 graphic card in FSX DX10-mode, that's why I am asking. I am also not able to activate AA through nHancer when using DX10. Conclusion is, that with my GTX-295 there will be no AA when using DX10-preview.Bloom effect doesn't work, too when switching to DX10-preview. The same with G-effects, they doesn't work in DX10-preview with my card. In DX9 mode everything works fine. You can test G-effects like this: check in the setup tab [realism] the g-effect option. Then choose FA/18 jet aircraft, and while flying with high speed pull or push the elevator. If you pull and raise your jet nose there will be positive g and result in a black screen. When pushing elevator and nose falls then the screen will get red as negative g are active.

No need to replace a great card ... you can turn one gpu off in the nvidia control panel.

I know, but one GPU of my GTX-295 is not as performant as one GPU of the HD-5870 :)

just out of curiosity, how much % GPU load do you have with the 295 ?

In your case, I would suggest you wait for new DX11 cards (with reasonable prices). You currently have a great card, HD5870 or GTX285 wouldn't give you THAT much more performance, that it would justify the money expenditure.Newer single GPU cards will be faster. Those will be worth the money in YOUR case.

Nvidia is still sleeping and I bet the prices will be horrible. Will ATI also release newer Single-GPU cards? If so, when about?My GTX-295 is a good performant card, no doubt, but NOT for the FSX and X-Plane as they cannot handle SLI. And this sucks. That's why I'm thinking about a fast single-GPU-card and actually it is the HD-5870.Any other suggestions?

@GTX-285 and HD-5870 users:Can you tell me if Anti-Aliasing works when you have activated DX10-preview mode in FSX?With my GTX-295 and activated DX10, Anti-Aliasing does NOT work, and this is known. Also mentioned in Nick's FSX tuning guide. nHancer cannot help eiter. So that's why I am asking for DX10 and correct working AA

on my gtx285 dx10 + AA ingame works. perfect quality except the tree's shimmer a little.You should overclock your CPU a little more aswell, that'll fix up any issues :(

As your running win7 64 do NOT buy the HD5870 as vsync does not work with win7 or vista and doesnt look like its going to fixed any time soon. If your willing to take the time and expense to setup a dual boot system with XP64 then the HD5870 is highly recommended as its a great performing card and works great with XP and is even better now after the latest driver release.No problem getting AA/AF to work with the 5870 here in DX10 preview as long as its set up from within fsx. Again though Vsync kills the expereience so if your intent on using DX10preview only then stick with Nvidia.

That sounds bit confusing for me. HD5870 works fine with DX10 on XP? But XP has no DX10 support. I heard about an upgrade, which gives XP DX10 capabilities, but is that 100% DX10 compatible for XP?I red about problem with HD5870 in DX10 mode with no Vsync. Do I really need VSync for FSX?
