February 6, 201016 yr Hi Buddy, Sorry to hear about your lock ups. Unfortunately chasing such a problem and pinpointing the cause isn't a perfect science and very rarely are two systems the same to give exact advice for you to follow. A lot of it can depend on what addons you have running, background programs, windows install, drivers etc... Here is what I do when experiencing abnormalities and trying to find the culprit to problems:Check your event logs.If logs are clean, run Task Manager and view the CPU usage and memory usage of the processes (This will also require that you run in windowed mode for the time being).Make sure all background running programs are at a minimum. If it's near your time in the lower right, it is running and should be shutoff most of the time. ie: virus scanner #1 reason for system quirks. Before setting up the sim, do a fresh reboot without running anything. Give your OS a minute or two to reach idle before loading it and do not run Internet explorer or especially Firefox prior to loading or during. (This is because even though I prefer firefox, it's process has been the culprit many times when doing troubleshooting. It can get unstable and spike the CPU usage as high as 90%).Hope this helps, i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

I'll give it a whirl after i finish my work for the day and report back. I'm unfamiliar with how to obtain the logs, but will google around before my diagnosis. Thanks again!Buddy MorganGlad to help. For Windows 7, just right click on your "My Computer" icon and choose "Manage" from the drop down list.A Computer management window will open.In the left pane, collapse the arrow >, then do the same for "Windows Logs".The two you should be mainly concerned with are "Application" and "System". Just click either or and it will show the information to the right. Look for Red "!" errors. Highlight the errors and see what it has to say, then google and specific error codes.Hope this helps, i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

I didn't have a system lockup. Did a short flight from CLE to DCA in the blizzard and things went smoothly, no lock ups and good frames. I'll do a LAX to LGA flight sometime this week and report back. Thanks again!Buddy Morgan Buddy Morgan Specs removed by Admin. See AVSIM Signature policy in Hangar Chat
February 9, 201016 yr I am running Norton 2009, which is a major improvement over their earlier NAVs. I cannot detect any performance hit from it. Dan Downs KCRP
