We need a lot more information before we can help. What's is your hardware configuration and what other addons are you running. Have you disabled everything running in the background? Do you have the latest drivers for your sound card? George Morris

I haven't listened to the external view in a long time. Usually during take off and landing I am little busy in the cockpit. :(Let me check at home but it sounds like something is missing. What's your sound card and how do you have it setup? Are you using anything like Dolby Surround or something that adds an environment (like a concert hall) as a default? Also, try setting everything back to stereo and see if that changes anything. George Morris

February 10, 201016 yr hope this helps thanksReece McCallumI will check my settings at home tonight and engine sound files. You can try turning up the environment to 50. Also make sure your windows settings are set to stereo. Next step would be to uninstall and reinstall the NG. Make sure you use the removal tool to ensure everything is deleted before you reinstall. February 10, 201016 yr I done what you suggested but still no joy. its really starting to get annoying :( ThanksReece McCallum
February 10, 201016 yr George, did you hear a problem? I finally got curious and listened to the UTube clip at a high volume and then tried my own and really didn't hear a difference except the recording had a bump sound like a mike was being used. I am hard of hearing, to many hours in a Cessna. Dan Downs KCRP

Sounds to me like the background is there but the foreground engine sound is missing. I am going to check tonight when I get home and confirm. George Morris

February 10, 201016 yr Reece, that sounds ugly. It also has an echolation effect it seems. I assume you have double checked your audio to make sure there were no special effects turned on. How about a music CD? Sound okay? Dan Downs KCRP

How about a music CD? Sound okay? That does sound bad. Ok, let's check this. If its effecting the default aircraft then its in either FS or your hardware. Go to the control panel and click on the sound icon. Under the advanced settings see what sample rate the card is set up for. Make sure it is set to the highest setting and then test again.
