FTX is better than GEX and UTX together, but (of course) the regions it covers are smaller. Of course it also depends on how you fly (airliner, GA, long or short flight, high or low, etc.)
February 24, 201016 yr FTX (at this moment FTX only covers Australia, but coming weekend the Pacific Northwest will be added). FTX is better than GEX and UTX together, but (of course) the regions it covers are smaller. Of course it also depends on how you fly (airliner, GA, long or short flight, high or low, etc.)seeing as you asked about UTX and not FTX, i will tell you that i recommend both. now you may not be able to get both which is why you are asking. in that case i would start with UTX. remember these two programs do different things but they work extremely well together. considering that this topic is covered very well in this forum ( just check the search feature on these two items ) here are the links for both products so you can see for yourself, if you have not alreadyUTX-http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=FL1-UXU-001GEX- http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=gexusacanGEX has a new update, and a large one at that, over 2GB, coming in the next week or so that is going to make some great changes to it as well. if you can i do really recommend you get both. i do agree that FTX looks great and a touch more realistic than GEX and that FTX does do what GEX and UTX do all in one package but UTX USA covers the whole US and GEX covers the US and Canada. FTX covers aabout 1/2 of washington state, oregon, and BC Canada.finally ask yourself what type of flying you do and where you do it. if you are flying in many locations UTX and GEX cover A LOT of area and htey are working on adding more. UTX does europe, Canada, and now Alaska. GEX does US, Europe, and they will expand as well. once you have these two products, the next question will be what landclass product do i get and what mesh program is best. (LOL i recommend FSGenesis for both but scenery tech does good landclass too.)
February 24, 201016 yr For my part, if I had to choose between GEX and UTX, I would take GEX simply because I would choose better eye candy over better accuracy. No doubt UTX makes things look better by making them more accurate, but GEX adds colour and texture and depth and, I think, is more fun when flying. Just my opinion.I have GEX and UTX for Canada and the States and I think they are great programs. (And don't forget FSGenesis mesh, it's a must-have with GEX and UTX.)Mind you, if you are into low and slow flying, the ORBX Pacific Northwest scenery coming out in a few days (4GB download) looks to be the cat's whiskers. Yes, the area is much smaller than what GEX and UTX cover, but that ORBX PNW scenery will doubtlessly be freaking delicious and good for a lot of fun flying. ___________________________I'm just flying for the fun of it.
