Texture Help!

Featured Replies

Hey helpfull people. I'm in desperate need of help. I replaced my fs9 cloud textures to a less demanding set but they're giving me a major problem. Now when I try and load up a flight, it loads to 77% (loading weather) part, then crashes. I have backed my old files but I want to know why this is happening. It is a DXT3 replacment freeware set, I followed all instructions and enabled "render to texture". Any thoughts?thanks

Which texture did you download? And second, look for a file "hde_1_0.zip" here on avsim. I'm 100% sure that those clouds work. You have in it HD set of clouds and DXT3 set, which you need.

My Specification: I CAN RUN FSX IN MAX SETTINGS....i don't care about dell, bell, amd, intel, 60000 wats power supply or alien made graphic card....

I'll vouch for that: works well. I use the low res versions (really low spec PC) and even they look stunning.

I would suggest that you first return your backed up cloud textures and disable render to texture just to make sure the sim goes back to loading normally before going any further. Once that has been verified, go ahead and replace the cloud textures if you wish. (Keep your back up!) Also, as the other two people who posted said, and I agree, give "hde_1_0.zip" a try. Simply the best I have ever seen or used. One more thought; You did not say whether or not you were using Active Sky. If you are there is a setting in the 'clouds section' related to render to texture that should match your cloud type also.I hope we all are able to help you with your problem.Regards,Mel

Hey thanks for the responces. I am not using active sky. It works when I select simple clouds but I'd rather see a proper overcast. I will give those clouds you all suggested a try.

Take a look at this thread http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=268539 this will give you a solid cloud deck and it works great.

I have found the problem to be the DXt3 textures. Is there a reason why my sim cannot load these??
