March 7, 201016 yr Hi,I'm new to the ASE program as I have been using AS65 since who knows when. ASE works perfectly in FS9 (which I still use) weather is depicted, no wind shifts, no pressure changes or cloud pops.In FSX it is a total disaster no matter what I try to do. I use RC4 for every flight so enabling DWC is a no go for me as it screws up my arrival weather. I use FSUIPC4 for wind shifts only while using ASE. I force destination wx at 80 miles but the weather is still changing all the way until the plane touches down on the runway then the weather is correct. There are significant pressure changes as I fly my route. I do understand that certain planes will not read certain weather parameters from ASE unless DWC is enabled such as wind direction and speed. My request is somebody tell me the setting they use in FSX if you use RC4 for ATC. I have yet to find the so called sweet spot I'm looking for. For now I've gone back to AS65 in FSX. I see no other issues on the message board for problems in FSX so it must be my setting somewhere.I use ASE on a single computer installed in the default location of ProgramFiles(x86). I run in administrator mode. I use windows7 64bit. I use sp2 for FSX. Before each flight I start ASE then process a flight plan then start FSX with default cessna parked at airport my flight starts from then switch to actual aircraft for flight.Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Sean Green Sean Green
March 7, 201016 yr This is crazy, I see 100th post of person who uses RC4 which is disaster as it screws up arrival weather. What do you need it for since you can have look on XGAUGE? If you use ASE and DWC on, forget RC atis, check ASE instead plus check XGAUGE. Works for me fince since few months now.And BTW, make sure you refresh your AI after weather is depticed. You have 2 options: do it thru ASE or if you use UT2 you can restart it from drop down menu. This should be used as guidance on how to use ASE with RC4. Tom Link
March 7, 201016 yr Author I think after trial and error of 4 flights this morning I've got it working pretty good. My weather was not changing from the departure at the destination until touchdown due to the slider "Dynamic Rate of Change" which was set at 0. Being new to the new versions of ActiveSky and FSX I was not familiar with this slider. I set this to 100 and the weather changes throughout the flight according to the map and the metars listed. I still don't use DWC even though I've thought of that ST1322 and just requesting the runway I need by looking at the X-Gauge. FSUIPC works perfectly in smoothing the winds so there is no need for DWC. Barometric changes were not bad since I turned on FSUIPC pressure smoothing also and that helped tremendously. The only reason I thought of using DWC was for the PMDG MD-11 which does not display winds aloft direction and speed correctly due to the variables not being there for simconnect due to not using DWC if I understand the readme file that came with the program. JSkorna probably understands what I'm talking about so I won't post the info listed in the readme. Its not a major issue and I can live without it.My computer specs are a Quad Core 9550 with 8 gig memory and a GT220. Basically an ASUS 5620 with no modifications. After flying for 6 straight hours this morning BNA to STL and back again over and over again I seem to have sorted it out with a little tweaking here and there. If there are any suggestions please let me know. Thanks for your responses,Sean Green Sean Green
March 7, 201016 yr I think that you don't understand what dynamic rate of change is, which is not something bad as I did not understand it either in the beginning. By setting it to 100 you will have so called dramatic changes, so if one metar is showing overcast and anotherone might be little outdated with scatterec, you will have this sudden change popping at you and spoiling what could have been nice flight. I have mine at zero, and weather do changes, but less dramatically. So I would recommend playing with this setting between 0 and 50. Above in my opinion is way to much :)As fro the FSUIPC smoothing. i haev not explored it yet as I enjoy visibility smoothing as well. I have no clue if FSUIPS has this option as I could not find good description on the net - except manual of course for which I have not time at the moment :)But i will repeat again. RC4 can work fine with DWC, all you have to do is accept the fact that destination weather will not be as you expect it, but still you can use either ASE ATIS on 122.05 or... XGAUGE. Tom Link
March 9, 201016 yr all you have to do is accept the fact that destination weather will not be as you expect it, Which, you know, is kinda what happens when flying in the real world too.....Just sayin.... Jim Atkins
