FS2Crew not added to the panel.cfg

Featured Replies

I have a strange problem that results in the fs2crew gauge for maddog 2008 not being inserted. I have followed the description on how to install it and also what to do if nothing happens when I click the gauge to open the FS2Crew main panel. If I try the FS9 Registry integrity test tool, it says that fs9 installation folder found under LOCAL_MACHINE. Hower, there's not a trace of fs9 to be found. If I try the Flight 1 FS9 Registry repair tool, I point at the FS9 file and it says that it was successfully added to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0\EXE Path! However, when I take a look in the registry, it's definitely not there!?I know of course that this isn't a FS2 crew problem, but related to my WIndows 7 installation, but perhaps someone has a suggestion? I run FS9 without a problem and also a great amount of different add-ons, it's just FS2crew that gives me grief! I also had registry problems when getting the voice version for FS2Crew PMDG 737 to work, but Bryan sorted that one out after a loong discussion.BRKrister

Hi Krister,The FS2Crew Maddog installer will overwrite the entire panel.cfg, not just edit the panel.cfg to insert gauge. I learned from the 737 versions that trying to selectively edit panel.cfg works in 99 percent of all cases, but in 1 percent of cases something will get jumbled up, so I dropped that method as that 1 percent would eat up too much of my time.Does the FS2Crew installer automatically locate FSX when you go to install it?Take a look at your panel.cfg files files for the Maddog and see if FS2Crew windows/gauges are on them.Best,

Firstly, it's FS9 - but I also noticed now that FS2Crew does indeed work when I chose a livery with a VC panel attached to it. I was so eager to try it out first so I chose the first one in the list, Alitalia, which doesn't have a VC and there the FS2Crew doesn't work. I was only looking in the panel.cfg file which doesn't contain any fs2crew specific, while panel.vc does.

Did you run the MadDog config Manager and click "okay/save" after installing FS2Crew?Which specific model are you trying to update? Is this the Pro or Standard version?

Yes, I did run MadDog config manager and clicked "okay/save" after installing FS2Crew.I am not sure what you mean by which specific model I am trying to update. It's the Maddog 2008 Pro and I have had tried different liveries chosen in the Maddog 2008 Pro config manager utility when I click OK, both liveries with VC (SAS) and without (Aeropostal, not Alitalia that I first wrote). The panel.cfg doesn't contain anything FS2Crew related whereas panel.novc and panel.vc does. As I said, I now (well, they were probably loaded all the time) get the FS2Crew gauge to load in the liveries I've tried that contains VC and since those are all I really care about, I'm fine!

When you click "okay/save" in the Maddog Config Manager (not the FS2Crew manager) the contents of panel.novc or panel.vc panel will copied to the main panel.cfg that gets loaded by FSX/FS9.Check that UAC is fully disabled. I suspect that's the issue.Cheers,
