March 14, 201016 yr Hello,I have been neglecting my FS install for a while and I have a lot of updating to do. I finally have some time and I am downloading furiously at the moment. Some people go to Florida for spring break (graduate school), I'm spending it front of my computer doing all of the updates I missed over the last 3 months - one week and one goal.Anyway, I want to install PNW and update GEX at the same time. Is there anything I need to do or an order I need to follow? March 14, 201016 yr Before you install the new version of GEX, use the FTX tool to disable the NA Blue package.Nick at GEX has a great method and installation order on the GEX WebsiteIt's basically,1. Disable FTX.2. Uninstall GEX 1.08 or lower3. Install GEX 1.094. Reenable FTXThere are some different methods if you are using UTX Alaska or GEX Europe. Make sure you follow them if you have them.Phil Philip Manhart :American Flag: - "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." ~ Plato
March 14, 201016 yr No considerations. Go for it. From the PNW manual:"their [GEX ] textures won't appear inside FTX PNW since we use custom landclass textures which are called from withing Orbx folders only. This means you will see GEX outside the FTX PNW boundaries, and our textures as soon as you cross over into PNW."Goes on to say you may want to use FTX central to switch from "North America" to 'Default FSX' when flying outside of FTX territory.edit, misread: oops, you meant install order. Yeah like he said, just 'turn off' FTX before installing GEX. i7-920 @ 3.2ghz | 6GB OCZ DDR3 @ 1600 mhz | GTX 580 1.5 GB | 1TB WD; 750GB WD | X-Fi Audio | 24" Dell LCD | X52 Flight Controller | REX-GEX-UTX-FTX

Can I do the followingUninstall GEX 1.08 USA and EuropeInstall PNWTurn off PNWInstall GEX Europe and USATurn an PNWAlso, if I will see GEX textures outside of the PNW area, why do I need to switch off PNW when flying out of the area? March 14, 201016 yr Commercial Member Hi Jeff, yup, those steps work as well assuming you wanted to uninstall/reinstall GEX anyway.FTX Central primarily switches a number of autogen texture files for trees and buildings. If you don't mind seeing our versions elsewhere in North America -- maybe even prefer them -- then you can certainly leave North America active in FTX Central. Just remember to set it to Default FSX prior to installing any add-on that replaces ground or autogen textures, like GEX, FScene, Samoshin, etc.Cheers, Holger
March 14, 201016 yr Author Great. Thanks Holger. Since you are here, how does Vancouver+ play in to things. I'm sure there is something over at ORBX I can check out but I thought I would ask anyway.Or, is there really a need for Vancouver+ anymore if the ai isn't important to me?
