March 19, 201016 yr I've downloaded the program FS2004 Night Time, which vastly improves night flying by making night alot darker, specifically on aircraft and buildings. But it seems, for some reason, that I have to run it everytime I start FS9 as it's effects seem to be disregarded once FS has been shut down.Does anyone else who uses this program have this problem? Also, exactly what does it change when you run it?Thanks Phil Brown

Night water areas are lighter if there is moon or starshine.I wonder if the reason may be that I have my Desktop background colour set to black as part of emulating Full Screen appearance while actually running in Windowed mode.Alex Reid

It is a good read even if you do not use the program.
March 19, 201016 yr Author Thanks for the replies. I'm running Windows 7 64. If it is a permissions thing, then it can be easily solved, but I don't know what the program actually changes to do what it does!In terms of the program, it's alot more than just darkening the sky (and the clouds). It also darkens the aircraft, so you can barely see it when in the dark (except the lights of course), which is much more realistic. Phil Brown

Also set the Fs2004 shortcut and the FS2004 Night Time program to be run "As Adminstrator".That combination of things should allow FS and the Note Program to function as they should. In any case, granting full permisssions to FS is a wise thing to do.Hope that helps - looking forward to your feedback on this.

March 20, 201016 yr Author It's not a permission problem. It's an Active Sky problem.I can restart FS as many times as I like, and it "remembers" the new night settings. But if Active Sky is run when FS is not active (which allows AS to alter all the graphics) then it reverts back to the very light night. When Active Sky is run when FS is active, it only updates the cloud graphics, so it doesn't cause a problem.I guess my only option will be just to quickly run the FS2004 Night Time program before I start FS. No biggie. Phil Brown
