March 20, 201016 yr I'm getting on occasion what appears to be a water vapor spray on the ground and behind the airplane. In the air it turns into a smoke effect about 200' below the airplane. Is this just me, or is there a known fix? Thanks.zach Digital Storm, Win 7 64-bit, Intel i5 4690k (OC 4.5 GHz), ASRock Z97, FSX Gold, two Dell monitors, 1x Samsung 500GB DDR, PC 8GB DDR3 (1866), RC4, DX10 Fixer,nVidia Inspector tuned by FSX DX10 "How To" Guide, nVidia GeForce GTX 970 (4GB),Opus, GEX, UTX, UT2, REX (4, Soft, Airports) FS Global 2008, PMDG JS41 & 737NGX, 750W Corsair
March 20, 201016 yr It's one of those FSXisms, MS turns on the effects but often the effects keep on going. Not very 'as real as it gets.' Dan Downs KCRP
September 13, 201015 yr Was just about to ask about this myself, search and you shall find right :wink:From the answer already provided I take it not much can be done about this "feature", too bad since it looks very unrealistic indeed! I'm a little bit puzzled though when you say this is caused by FSX because I can't recall I've seen it when flying other a/c like the MD-11 for instance or the 747 for that matter but also some other a/c from other vendors.I wonder if there maybe is some way you could disable this effect manually by renaming the effect file the J41 uses?
September 13, 201015 yr I noticed it about a year or so ago in the 744. As Dan said, it's an effect that doesn't seem to have an off switch. You will often see it when you depart from a wet airstrip. I don't know if it just becomes locked after a long time running or what, but that's my guess. Prior to PMDG aircraft I didn't do many long taxi's and pretty much always set "Active runway", so perhaps it gets locked or corrupt after a certain amount of time or additional conditions. The reason I say this is because I cannot duplicate it just by starting on the active and wet runway, at least not 100% of the time. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
February 18, 201115 yr Search for "effects_package_1.2.zip" in AVSIM library, AS ALWAYS backup your originals. After replacing the FSX default water spray i have never seen it trailing the aircraft in the air again. As an added bonus these textures are more realistic and much nicer looking than the default one. If your're interested in disabling it completely, checkout this post: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/274287-get-rid-of-snow-rain-spray/ Hope this helps
