March 25, 201016 yr I am running FSX with Acceleration on WIndows 7 Intel Icore 5, 8gb. These two questions relate to the default B737-800. I have provided data below for my questions.1. After taking off at approximate V2 of 146kts, Flaps 5, and gear retracted, about 10 degreee pitch up, aircraft excelerates quickly and before I know it I am above 200kts. I know on real aircraft they are probably doing the initial climb at V2 +15 kts. What am I doing wrong, and I am guessing that acceleration should probably take place at around 3 to 4 thousand feet.2. Fuel Planning. I used the calculations in the PMDG 737-800 manual. KCLT to KEWR, 529nm, FL350, .76m I calculated 15,100lbs of fuel. I blocked in at KEWR with 700lbs left. I did have I missed approach at FSX ATC started my descent way to late at 60nm from runway. I noticed that I burned alot of fuel during the climb to cruise segment, about 8,500lbs. I must have missed a calculation somewhere. What am I doing wrong, and I am guessing that acceleration should probably take place at around 3 to 4 thousand feet.During takeoff, you will need to adjust the pitch and power (in that order) to maintain your desired airspeed. If you are at 100% thrust and you are only at a 10 degree pitch, you won't slow down, or stay below 200 knots. I would suggest after you acheived a positive rate of climb and the gear is up, adjust your pitch to something higher, and also reduce your thrust to maintain your desired airspeed. You should target something between 230-245 knots until you have passed 10K feet. One of the lessons I learned early on was the aircraft does not stay at full throttle during the climb. Fine for flying, don't get me wrong, but not for flying-by-the-numbers-according-to-reality.I had to reduce TO thrust to like 80% before I got close to what felt normal. Can't wait for the PMDG NGX myself.
