April 1, 201016 yr Hey all, I've been using the JS4100 for a month or so and recently had a problem crop up that I'm hoping is a known problem with a known fix. When starting up the aircraft, whenever power is applied to the Avionics Master, I get a FSX crash to desktop. It doesn't matter what way I get power to the Avionics, either by starting the engines and then switching on the Avionics Master, or using external ground power to power it.This is frustrating the holy bajesus out of me at this point!I've tried doing a repair using the installer and reinstalling SP1, the only thing I haven't done is a complete uninstall and reinstall. Thanks for any help!Phil Philip Manhart :American Flag: - "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." ~ Plato
April 1, 201016 yr I think you need to try to uninstall SP2 (or acceleration) and reinstall that. Reinstalling SP1 hasn't been reported to have fixed anything but SP2 reinstall has fixed some odd problems. Dan Downs KCRP
April 2, 201016 yr Author Ha, I think you misunderstood me. I meant the JS4100 SP1... not the FSX SP1. But that's a good idea. I'll let the Acceleration Installer repair itself and see what happens.Could anyone comment on if this could be a UIAutomationcore.dll issue? I recently applied it, and am wondering if this could be the culprit... April 2, 201016 yr Author Well, I finally fixed it.I uninstalled the JS4100 and all liveries, then deleted the JS4100 folders in the Simobjects and PMDG folders.Ran Registry Mechanic to clean the registry.Ran Acceleration Installer and used the Repair Function.Reboot OSInstall JS4100 and liveries. Thanks for the idea of using the repair function of Acceleration Dan!PhilIt works! May 27, 201016 yr Tried what Phil did. Nodda.Frankly, I have had nothing but trouble with this bird since I purchased right after release. It worked fine from the initial D/L.After the 1st SP from then on...CTD.Now I can load the JS without a crash. Du not know why, since it was CD from initial loading.Diff. dilemma. Now as soon as I try & get the avionics on...crash.I would like some help or a refund, since I can not use this. I wish I could :(Not willing to do any further un-install/re-install of any major thing such as FS or OS to get it going. Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
May 27, 201016 yr A trouble ticket submitted thought the Support Portal is likely to be your best avenue of approach if you can't get it figured out with help from the forums. Go here:http://support.precisionmanuals.com/Main/Default.aspx
May 27, 201016 yr Thanks Nick.I have gone that way a few times before. I was sent a couple different D/L's to give a whack.Same problem as before. I have read thru the diff. posts.I see several with same/similar issues. I am clueless as to why this bird is doing this. Not have any problems with any of the other PMDG planes. I have purchased them all. Thanks for the response. I guess I am one of the few that can not use this one. Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
May 27, 201016 yr Interesting how something can work on 10,000 different computers and not number 10,001. Of course, the something is blamed for it :( Dan Downs KCRP
May 27, 201016 yr Yeah Dan?Sarcasm is not helpin me out here. I am sure ya cracked a funny & that's cool.As I said earlier, I explained what I am/have been experiencing.A few others are/have also experienced same or very similar. There are other payware aircraft out there that a few "almost" users have trouble with due to a conflict with something in their system itwould seem. This is a real issue I am having, I ain't smokin nothin funny & gave up drinking some time ago :)I did what I wanted, which was to again reach out for help thru the forum, one last time. Been havin a problem since outta the gate with the JS.I was hoping there would be an answer that would help me & others. If none to be had, then time to get $$ back. Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
May 27, 201016 yr Dusty,I'm positive that what Dan was trying to say is that it's frustrating to have an inexplicable blocking issue like yours. The developers do a great job, and we beta testers do our best to break it and expose all the niggles before it gets released. Unfortunately, it seems inevitable that "1 in 10,000" has an issue that no one has seen, can't pinpoint, or otherwise can't be explained. It's more likely than not that there is some system-specific issue unique to your setup that causing the CTD. That's little comfort to you of course, and we appreciate that.If I may, where did your contact with the support team leave off? As a matter of last resort, have you tried any of the new tweaks that have been floating arounf the forum lately? The Shader Model 3 enhancement, or the "highmem" fix, or any of those kind of tweaks? I never have CTD issues, but I messed with a few things that kept FS from starting, and then once I got it to load, I had all sorts of issues and crashes. Is there anything else about your system that changed recently? Is the issue you're seeing ONLY with the J41?I have no way of knowing what things you've covered already, so it's hard to guess where to start.
May 28, 201016 yr Hi Nick.No hard feeling @ Dan. I apologize if it seemed so...if I came off as a putz.I installed last night again just to see. Up till then I kept having CTD as soon as the JS would attempt to load in FS.I got all happy when I was able to load the JS successfully last night. I have no idea why FS finally "accepted" it..?!However, when I turned on the avionics, left side..CTD. Repeatedly. As to where things left off w/support, I was in contact a few months ago. Support, bless their hearts, sent me a few different D/L's to try.No success w/any. So, I gave up for a while and then life has become busier. This is why I let things lie for a few.I looked in the forums from time to time to see if anyone's birds were "healed"..folks who were feelin the same pain.I tried un-installing all PMDG folders, registry entries, repaired Acceleration (have FSX Gold here). No success so far.I have no issues with any other aircraft software and not any in the past like this.I know the developers did a great job, not knockin that, nor knockin the beta testers. They can only do so much and they do a lot.I am frustrated cause this is such a fine bird & this 'ol rat can't use it :( Chad Dillon aka: Dusty (PAEN)
May 28, 201016 yr If reinstalling SP2/Accel doesn't help, then the next most promising place to look is at the VS C++ Redistributals. Make sure you are not just "repairing" FSX SP2/Acceleration but actually uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Also, keep working with the PMDG support guru. They are very sharp. Dan Downs KCRP
