I'll agree there, if I can have a concave screen that surrounds me...that'll be second to none.Il-2 was developed A LOOOONG time ago so it'll run pretty much run on any computer as long as you're willing to play with the settings a bit. I'd say its more like flying a default plane in fs9...but ofcourse as with fs9, there are many mods that enhance graphics, but you don't have to use them.
Thanks for the info re Il-2- looks interesting.-----------------Re multiple views-Scenery projection in FS presents exactly the same problem that cartogrophers of the earth's surface have wrestled with for many centuries- how do you project a spherical surface onto a flat plane? In our case the flat plane is a computer monitor (or group of) rather than a sheet of paper- the sphere is how our eyes and brain see the world about us.FS only provides setup commands for the eight views around the horizon (360

Avoid the Direct 2 Drive and Steam versions. One of my old fellow squad members had nothing but problems with the Direct 2 Drive version, and the Steam version is still at version 4.07 instead of the current 4.09. I would personally suggest a disc version, but if you must get digital download, get it from somewhere like GOG.com.

Peter- Agreed: I NEVER buy anything over the I'net. CD/DVDs only here.------------After watching your combat video, I realized you achieve LOOK UP by letting the Panel/HUD disappear off the bottom of the single view/monitor. Given my preference for a natural panorama via multiple views, I experimented with adding a fourth view- View LOOK UP. Since I don't actually have this extra monitor, I simply created, overlaid & undocked View "LOOK UP" on top of main VIEW FWD. With the extra monitor, the overlay would simply be dragged up onto a new LCD positioned immediately above main monitor. (Pretty simple carpentry to do this- used LCD monitor & a third old video card would cost less than $75.)Big surprise was that it worked very smoothly on my 6 year old machine! Very small impact on FPS. The magic of multi monitor CPU time sharing!Nice to be able to simply "roll the eyeballs" to see all around, rather than "rolling" the monitor view itself with the eyeballs stationary!Cheers Alex Reid"LOOK UP" view overlaid on main view could be dragged to a fourth monitor positioned directly above the main mon.

Except that is a completely 3d cockpit and there is no 2d cockpit in il-2. Trust us, those monitors won't do much good in combat where the enemies are everywhere. If it comes down to it then I guess I'll have to 1 v 1 you in a multiplayer server or put you in a massive furball online. Forward vision is barely anything in combat. On a side note, 4.10 is due out soon.

Peter- Guess I've failed to explain multiple views! ( my old English prof said I had trouble with the written word! Wow-nearly 60 years ago!)You don't use panning or zoom to get a different view- all views are there all the time- one on each monitor. Triple monitors display a continuous 145
