October 6, 201114 yr 2600K also has a larger cache than the 2500K Ah OK, thanks Glenn. Is the larger cache likely to be of any benefit in real terms do you think? October 7, 201114 yr Not very noticeable. You would be better spending the $100 on a GPU or SSD maybe IMO. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
October 8, 201114 yr Nick N seemed to think it would be somewhat beneficial in FSX. Hard to say for sure, although I doubt its worth the extra $100. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD

October 9, 201114 yr Howard, With your current build, you may want to consider waiting until Ivy Bridge is released. You aren't exactly in the slow lane at the moment! October 10, 201114 yr Howard, With your current build, you may want to consider waiting until Ivy Bridge is released. You aren't exactly in the slow lane at the moment!Hi Glenn, sure, that's my intention. Although, am I right in thinking that even the 1133(?) socket will be obsolete within a couple of months? I have read that another chip is about to hit the market at the end of this year or early 2012. I don't know really what to do. Is the Ivy bridge an upgraded SB? At the moment I'm gathering information and advice so I can build a machine over the wonderful cold months of the UK winter! Any advice given gratefully received, thanks... October 10, 201114 yr With the IB shrink, it will offer better OCing performance as they cores will require less voltage and they will run cooler. They are also upgrading the IGP and many other improvements like the tri gate technology which should really increase performance. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. October 10, 201114 yr Mmm, I think I'm definitely going to have to wait a little longer.....
