Air Force One/Boeing 757?

Featured Replies

Have I overlooked an Air Force One Livery for the Boeing 757 either freeware, or particularly for the early version of Capt. Sim's 757? I am afraid I have not come up with the correct text in my search if there is one available in the library. If someone knows of an original, or repaint link for this bird, it sure would be appreciated.Respectfully:RTH

Mmm, your going to have an hard time finding one...Considering the fact that there's never been a real 757 in presidential colors...

Try searching C-32,David Sweetman, 757 on AVSIM. Dont know if they have reuploaded it since the hacking incident. It is actually not AF 1 but AF 2, the plane the vice president flies. If all else fails try posting on McPhats website and see if Dave can send you a copy.Alex C

Negative!I am afraid you are mistaken there. Bush came in here at my home airport on one with the presidential colors at KLWB for a Republican get together at the Greenbrier with all kinds of fanfare at least a couple of years ago. The fact that I have seen them (Including the first Lady disembarking last night from one on TV elsewhere) is the reason I would like to have the livery. Both a 757 and the Air Force One eqivalent of the Gulfstream V have come in here with full "United States of America" colors. (Don't remember the proper "VC-XX number for the G5).Back when the old 707's were used, I have video tapes of Air Force One shooting touch and goes here. The approach is right over my house. When that old bird was on final you new by the noise that it was something different.Since then, on occasion, the same thing has happened with the 757. They fly here for training although they never stop unless it is an occasion and the President or VP are on board for something at the Greenbier ("Old White" if you watch NCIS). I imagine they have more than one, but I don't know that. There are always C130's that precede their arrival. I assume they have the Limo's.We never see the 747. The runway is plenty long enough, but not constructed for that elephant's weight. If you watch the news, you will see the 757 on the Apron for Mrs. Obama. Yesterday's news report showed videos of the First Lady getting off of the 757 on her current world tour. It has full "United States of America" colors.Of course, any bird the President is in will be tagged "Air Force One", even if it was a J3 Cub, but it is pretty iffy that it would have the colors (Rotorcraft excepted).Respectfully:RTH

No actually he's right, the C-32 is not in Presidential colors. It does not have the Presidential seal like the VC-25. Just because it has the United States of America on it doesn't mean it's a Presidential aircraft, they are VIP aircraft though. . This aircraft as well as the Gulfstream are used for VIP's in the government. The C-32 is normally used for the VP (Then it becomes AF2), the First Lady, Secretary of State, or other high ranking cabinet officials. The other business jets like the Gulfstream are used to transport members of Congress, high ranking Military personnel or other VIP's. All that being said, there is nothing stopping the President from using these aircraft on occasion to locations that can not support the VC-25. In which case of course it becomes AF1!

Thanks

Not sure why the OP felt he had to open the same discussion in two different forums. When the VC-32 is in presidential service as the primary or backup, the presidential seal is mounted on the inside of the main entrance door so it's visible during the arrival and departure...it's removable and replaced with a USAF seal when flying other 89th missions. The C-32s (all four of them) have a presidential-grade secure comm package and a bunch of other stuff that was installed specifically with the backup mission in mind, so it's safe to say that all of them are "presidential" aircraft. As for who gets what aircraft (other than POTUS), that's a complicated process of sorting out the VIP pecking order and the mission requirements and negotiating with the various VIPs' offices. For example, if SecState has a trip to Africa planned, she'll normally get a VC-32 even if that means putting the VP or FLOTUS on a different plane, because of the logistical requirements of the mission. There's a three-star general (the Asst Vice Chief of Staff of the AF) and a division on the air staff in the Pentagon that deals with those political hot potatos below the white house level.Being stuck between the competing requirements of Pelosi's weekly $40,000 ride home to Caifornia and actual useful government travel is a position for which I envy no man... There is no such thing as a model of an airplane being called "Air Force One" as others have pointed out Air Force 1 is any Air Force airplane the President flies on, once in a while it can be a Gulfstream even. What you mean to ask is, "is there a repaint of a C-32 anywhere?" Just like the 747 is a VC-25 model.

OK! For a little clarification:As I already said a previous reply, I well know "Air Force One" literally is any aircraft in which the President is on board, regardless of the paint.I thought it would be obivious what I was talking about, but this has gotten off key (should have known). I had no idea the logistics for such a request would become so complex.A Boeing 757 (and as said by me and others, also A G5 Gulfstream) has occasionally filled that purpose. I have seen both after a President landed. Both had the classic "United States of America" paint design just like the 747. With the President on board, this made the birds in question "Air Force One" at least for those flights. That design for a 757 was what I was asking about. I might throw in the G5 to at this point, preferably Lider Designs model by Peter B. Several on this thread and others have been kind enough to point to some options toward that end. Thanks folks, I will take a peek at your suggestions.Happy flying:RTHEdit: Thanks Col. Scott and others for the input on the seal Appreciate all the information you can give.RTH

There is a nice one on the ProjectOpensky site (free). Boeing 757-200 page 2.Dave
