I am impressed

I have evaluated Captain Sim products, Level D product, and have not seen with my own eyes tcategorically the best category 3 autoland in none other than the MD-11. The aircraft is a dream to fly, with nearly every overhead system automated if that is the PIC's choice and so reminiscent of an A300-600 overhead from layout to the sound of the buttons really quite similar. This aircraft did not take long to get up to speed using relevant sections from the tutorial and FCOM to formulate a set of normal procedures to take the aircraft from LAs Vegas to Los Angeles safely and fully automated.I am well pleased with this bird even though I expected not to like it becuase I am used to being fed candy, great looks, about 90% ok but clearly PMDG fed me the 110% ok and lowered the candy to deliver top quality. I am a bit puzzled by the autoflight system and the oscillating movement of the yoke and throttle but I see stability out the window so is all good.

It's a great aircraft isn't it. Flying this aircraft in fsx at night is probably the best experience in a flight sim ever. And as you mentioned the autoland is fantastic, it's even better when you manual land it! On my long haul flights I use the md11 747 and cs 767 and I think there all great, but the md11 wins it for me. Also I'm a fan o night flying and the cs 767s night lighting isn't the best in my opinion, which is anotherw reason why I love the md11, and the 747 for that matter.

Agreed all around. I like PMDG, Level D, and Captain Sim. Not much of a fan of night flying but I think I may need to start

I'm going to have to agree with you guys on this one. IMO the sound and systems is what really makes this aircraft. I just flew RJAA/VIDP yesterday and i used the autoland feature for the first time, although it was flawless executing the cat III autoland, i prefer landing the aircraft myself. There is really nothing more amazing than thinking about just how huge the aircraft is behind the cockpit and landing it, especially w/ little more complex flaring that comes with the 11. Glad you like the aircraft!-Robert Santos

I really do recommend night flying. My favourite route for night flying is OMDB-WSSS. setting up the md11 for a night flight is awesome. The backlit panels and switches, the dome light and the ability to change the brightness of the backlit panels and glareshield etc is fantastic. Taking off and watching the lights is like flying a real plane(which I hope to be doing in the next 2 years when I leave school!!) anyway if you were to start night flying the md11 is the plane for this. Outstanding in my opinion!!Cheers

I have been flying at night continously lately and it is truly awesome when one gets to play around with the VC lights. Truly a nice experience. Like none i have ever experienced at night on FSX. The MD11 seems to come alive even more at night. ITS AWESOMERaphael Soler

I was once afraid to fly at night becuase of just plain bad night lighting. Once I got in the Md-11 near sunset, and the lighting began to come alive, I was no longer afraid. PMDG is just awesome

The night lighting in the MD-11 in FSX or JS-41 is just awsome. There are a couple of lights in the cockpit of the plane I fly that don't dim (prop sync, aux fuel selected, etc) and we have to use little wads of paper to block them on long night flights.

Even we older fellows still on FS9 consider the PMDG MD-11 to be, probably, the best payware product made for this platform. Some say the Leonardo Maddog is extremely good, but I don't own it so can't comment.Whatever - the MD-11 is worth every penny I paid :(
