hi,If you want to fly VFR, you need a sectional chart otherwise, you will be quickly lost especially in mountainous areas. Those charts are not free for Europe. If you choose to fly in the US, online sectionals are free. Fly over photoscenery such as http://www.blueskyscenery.com/ or http://www.sim-savvy.com/ combined with http://skyvector.com/ It is great for VFR flying, very realistic indeed.

If you want the Alps, then Switzerland Pro is excellent, but not cheap. It will also make you want the whole apls in such detail, the stack scenery looks really crap around it. The other option is tileproxy, it covers the Alps very well, check out some of my screenshots, you will see what i mean. Cheers, Mark
