A sticky hand cursor in VC?

Featured Replies

My pet gripe with the virtual cockpit is that I have to keep moving the hand cursor when I'm trying to set headings, airspeeds, altitudes and so forth. If I don't adjust the cursor position on the screen, it 'slides' off whatever I'm trying to tune, due to head latency and airplane movement. This problem is particularly pronounced when I'm using TrackIR - I try to keep my head still and keep the cursor over the dial I'm turning. It feels very unrealistic - a bit like trying to adjust the dials using a stick attached to my head. What I would like to find is a utility that keeps the cursor stuck over the dial I'm tuning. So, if I'm changing the heading, and the plane banks, the cursor does not 'slide' off the heading dial, but rather stays attached to the heading dial until I yank the mouse away. Does anyone know of a utility that does this?Cheers,Bryn.

I don't know if any such program, but for TrackIR...I have the 'pause' button assigned to my mouse for TrackIR, so when I'm actually turning dials, I can quickly pause and unpause TrackIR. I know that won't help you for the head latency but it's a start.

Me too: I have the Logitech Revolution MX, which has a small silver button behind the center wheel. I assign a key to it - in my case the "\" symbol, and then assign the "\" to the "pause" key in TIR. Works absolutely perfectly. Stick the pointer over the knob, wheel or whatever, press the mouse button - TIR pauses, do your thing with the knob, wheel or whatever - then click the mouse button again. Done!

Ditto - one of the annoyances of IFR flight hehe.... Some payware planes have REALLY tiny clickspots - and that's very annoying.
