April 23, 201016 yr I just ordered a new computer having Windows 7 as the OS. My current (old) computer has XP. Is there a way to copy all the data in my FSX folder from the old drive (including scenery add-ons, etc.) to the new drive? Or, will I have to manually install FSX to the new Hdd using my original DVDs?Thanks.
April 24, 201016 yr I would highly recommend that you do a clean install of FSX and all of your addons no matter what anyone else may tell you.

This one, you have registry connections etc, which do matter.
April 25, 201016 yr I recently did this.Installed W7 64 bit on my new machine.Installed FSX from the disksInstalled SP1 and SP2Overwrote the entire FSX folder from my extnal backup of my old machine.Wrote my fsx cfg changes manually into the new fsx cfg created. It worked fine.I have used this process on previous versions of flightsim and computers too with no problems.IAN Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)
April 25, 201016 yr Author Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've decided to take the safe route and reinstall FSX when I get the new system. I've already copied all my important add-on scenery to DVDs (including lots of photorealistic scenery I obtained from Megascenery Earth for which I downloaded and don't have the disks) and other "can't do without" add-ons like Real Sky, Traffic X, Ultimate Alaska and, of course FSX SP1 and SP2. I'm looking forward to the new system. My current computer is a circa 2006 model containing a Core-2 Duo E6600 (dual-core), 2GB of DDR-2 RAM and an Nvidia 7900 GS video card. The new system has an Intel Core I5 750 (quad-core), 4GB of DDR-3 RAM and the video card is an Nvidia Geforce GTS 250. Not a top-of-the-line video card by today's standards but a lot more powerful than the 7900GS, based on the comparable specs.Bob
