Strange Problem: Announciators coming up, when they shouldn't

Featured Replies

Hi all!I recently rebuilt my PC, updating Board, RAM and OS. Before this I had Win XP, and the Jetstream was running fine without any issue. Now I have Win7 64, FS and all updates/ addons were freshly installed. My problem is now: Somehow, at some point of time, announciators light up when they shouldn't. Just had a flight and made 3 Screenshots to show you the situation.Note: The aircraft flies as usual, there also is no aural warning. The attention getter sometimes lights up (no flashing, it's a steady light), sometimes not. The issue comes and goes, so at one time I have a usual cockpit, the other time the shown issue. At this flight up to ~FL100 everything was as usual, then the problem occured, returned to normal in cruise, came again up in cruise, returned to normal when descend started, came back, went off after the IAF and finally was there again while shutting down. Made in Climb:None of these indications is "true"- the gear is up (as it should be), and also everything else behaves as it should.fe1.pngOverheadpanel: Generators are actually working, and there is neither a GPU attached nor the ground power switch activated.. would need a long cable ;)fe3.pngMade after shutdown: There is only battery power, the AHRS system mainswitch and the avionic is OFF, but the AP panel shows up some modes.fe2.pngI tried to de-/reinstall 3 times, with no success. What I experienced at first was that also the DME indicator went all black time by time, but didn't have this until last reinstall. I hope you can help me out of this, even if the plane is perfectly flyable, it's pretty unrealistic to fly this way.Sincerely Matthias Hanel

After following the problems discussed here for more than four months I

Can you post the screen shots again in daylight see we can see switch positions etc.

Paul Smith.

Remove and reinstall the FSX SP2 (or Acceleration). Worth a try anyway.

To pic #1+#2:AHRS is correct this way, but the warning lights are not.As said, engines running, every switch "as usual": AP on, YD on, APR off, Spoilers Auto, BAT+GEN both on, Ext Pwr off, Prop Snych on, Fuel Pumps off, Probe and Windshield heating on, Anti-Ice off, Ignition normal, Bus switches on, Panel lights on, Oil Cooler Auto, Seatbelt+Smoking signs on, Flow 5 / 4, Flaps up, Gear up, Condition Lever at 98%, Powerlever as req.. did I miss something? :( ToPic #3:Everything off: Avionics off, GEN off, ext. Power off, engines are off, AHRS mainswitch off, Spoilers off, Panel lights off, Gear down, Flaps up, Flow off / off, Fuel pumps off, Probe and windshield heat off, Anti-ice off, Bus switches on, Oil cooler auto, Seatbelt off, smoking on, condition lever 0%, power lever 0%, park brake set, BAT on.So the AP mode indicators just can't be on :(

Ok, will try.Interesting thing is (found out today) that this problem is not only related to the Jetstream, it also comes up on the CS 727. But maybe there are some other good ideas, even if this doesn't seem to be a PMDG error. This could lead me to
As the activation procedure warns as that the plane will behave erratically if not properly activated, what guarantee do we have that the Flexnet module itself is not behaving erratically as it seems.
Whats's this Flexnet-thing? What does it, why does it this and what does it do on my PC? :(Ah, and is it correct that i only had to activate on first install, and on the following installs not?

Update: I just started up FSX to make a flight and choose the Jetstream. The activation-window pops up (I think 'ahh.. maybe now everything is tuning for good'"), i enter my key- and it states: Activation failed, unlicensed copy, will not behave as expected" :( Whats happening now?! Yesterday I flew it after reinstallation and had not to enter the code. On first installation, when system was new, the code was accepted. Now the key is wrong?! How do i get to fly again now?

J41 activation uses this: http://pds-site.com/flexera/FNPublisher/li...ing/default.htm and it installs itself within the J41 installation. You will find it by using your windows search utility with a keyword "flexnet". I run to it while considering updating my photo editing software. It is also part of newer Adobe Acrobats. Some photoshoppers had trouble with this module and that lead me to suspect it as a culprit for these minor bugs of J41 that seem to appear randomly in otherwise in a fine functioning product. This is just a guess. As it sends who knows what information to whoever knows whom, I have disabled it while I

Allright, just made 3 flights. The activation problem has vanished, but the announciators-problem persists.Tried:-several reinstalls-deinstall, registry-cleaning, reinstall-update of FSUIPC (just wanted to give it a shot)-gpu-driver is the latest-all windows updates doneWhat I found out: The announciators switch to their correct indication when I move the throttles, but they also can come back on, the problem is not pinned at a certain throttle position. Sometimes when they go off, they appear "half shadowed".. so you see one half of the indicator on, the other half off. Also the attention getter sometimes stays steady on. Doing an announciator test (all lights on) can also fix the problem sometimes.Any further ideas?

I would still like to see a screen shot which showed which announciators are on and what your switch positions are.

Ok here you go.Just wanted to start a new flight, problem nearly instantly showed up. Started up the Jetstream (as first a/c, standard flight is the aircreation thing cold&dark), added the GPU and began to do the first work.bat on, ground power on, windshield+probeheat on, avionics on.Then wanted to undock the FMC + FCS windows to drag them over to my second monitor. On the main monitor, they appeared normal, dragging them to the second monitor, the windows became black. Dragging back to monitor one they got normal again. Then I recognized there were again wrong announciator warnings. You can see Overhead-panel here, I marked all wrong things. Here you can see the main panel with the steady-illuminated attention getter, as well as the non-working TAT/SAT gauge and the wrong indicating landing altitude gauge. Also the displays don't get to life and are stuck in align.I then moved the power levers forward and got this. A special remark here to the Volt-/Aperemeter,it now shows values for the bats even if EMER/ GND is selected. The GPU ON indicator appears only "half".Moving the throttles back again and slightly into reverse, and the normal indications came up, meaning all looked like it should. Moving the throttles into idle again and I got again what you can see on the first picture.Something is completely mixed up with the electrics.. :(

Hi Matthias, Starting with your overhead panel, everything looks normal to me, considering you are in pre-start configuration, with no air or power for the de-ice, and your generators are off. On you main panel; The attention getter stays on until you press it. Thats how you tell the aircraft it has got your attention. That way, if it comes on again, you know that something else has come up that needs your attention. The landing alt shows the error message indicating it has not been set up yet. You have no power to run your TAT/SAT, and your alignment is not complete. (Use the co-pilots self test button to see how much longer the alignment will take)The second overhead is a little odd. I would guess that your right hand battery is drained, but there is nothing wrong with the volt/amp readings. They simply show that there is 24V available on the bus and that the batteries are recieving 14Amps of charge. If you still think something is wrong here, I suggest you change your startup procedure. From the free flight menu, select the Cessna or the trike. Then change to the J41 and do a shutdown as per the manual (remember the start locks). When you are happy that the aircraft is in a clean cold&dark state, save your flight (do not make it your default). Exit FS and restart. Select cessna or trike. Load up your cold&dark and then begin your startup.

Affirm.

I know, I have abround 200h on the Jetstream now :( Problem is, it's not flashing, it is a steady light. And it stays on when you press it. Also there is no aural warning, only the light of the getter.

Excuse me, in my configuration I have the ability to see the SAT, it even would state 888888 (test) with only bats on. But there is nothing. The landing alt indicator would be correct if only bats were on, but here also EPU and avionics are on. So I could enter the desired alt. The alignment was actually finished when this "error" occured and showed the seen picture.

thank you, will try. ATM I just start up with the Cessna, but didn't save a Jetstream flight, I'll give it a try. Please take into account that all these issues may disappear when moving the throttle a bit! They are not "real", they are just wrong indications, maybe not even given by the Jetstream's systems itself. It would be nice to know how those announcuiators are handeled, because on some addon-airports I have partially missing textures, I suppose there is something wrong with NVidias actual driver (reinstalled it twice). Could a faulty gpu driver cause this problems?

Did you ever uninstall/reinstall FSX SP2 (or Acceleration), I don't see it mentioned other than my recommendation?
