May 2, 201016 yr Commercial Member Hi, I want to use the traffic toolbox, have checked my xml. file and have the following:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?><SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0"> <Descr>Launch</Descr> <Filename>dll.xml</Filename> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad><Launch.Addon><Name>WidevieW</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>WidevieW\wideview.dll</Path></Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Object Placement Tool</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSDX</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad> <Path>FSDX.dll</Path> <DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName> <DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>Captain Sim 727 Menu</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Captain_Sim\727\Captain_Sim.p727.menu.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon><Name>FS Recorder Module</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>H:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\RecorderFSX.dll</Path></Launch.Addon> <Launch.Addon> <Name>FSUIPC 4</Name> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon></SimBase.Document>IO have checked in the SDK html how to activate the toolboxes, and the above loked right to me, but I dont seem to have a Tools menu to choose them from.can anyone point me in the right direction?Cheers, Mark
May 2, 201016 yr Hi Mark,you need to change the path ("<Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path>")e.g. <Path>H:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path>
May 2, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Nils, thx for that! I put the correct path in, but still cant see the tools menu...
May 2, 201016 yr Mark - is the SDK version the same as your FSX SP level, or is it the default SDK from the disk? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 2, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member hi Paul, not quite sure what you mean there by the level, I installed the SDK from the gold edition disk, it's in my program files(x86) folder. FSX is on my H drive.Cheers, Mark
May 2, 201016 yr hi Paul, not quite sure what you mean there by the level, I installed the SDK from the gold edition disk, it's in my program files(x86) folder. FSX is on my H drive.Cheers, MarkYou may need the to apply the service packs, SP1 and then SP2.
May 2, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member Gold edition includes acceleration, thereby surpassing SP1 & 2. The SDK is installed.Cheers, Mark
May 2, 201016 yr Gold edition includes acceleration, thereby surpassing SP1 & 2. The SDK is installed.Cheers, MarkGreets Mark,For FSX, you are correct. The SDKs are a different animal. There are three steps to installing the SDKs up to FSXP level. Install the RTM version on disk #1, then on the Aceleration disk is a folder with SP1a and sdk.msi. The SP1a needs to be installed, which erases the RRTM version. Then the sdk.msi file, which erases the SP1a version. Microsoft logic at work, as there is no bypassing the SP1a and going from RTM to sdk.msi.
May 2, 201016 yr Author Commercial Member well, i loaded up the acceleration disk, navigated to the SP!a folder and clicked on the .exe file therein, something flashed up briefly on my screen to fast to see what it was. Then , ....nothing... So I waited for 5 minutes.... nada.. So then I clicked on the sdk.msi - a window pops up, saying preparing to install. The vista "waiting/in progress" little circle appears if the cursor is over the message box, but apart from that, nothing much else happens. I wait 10 minutes, nothing happens, circle still spinning if I hover over the " preparing to install" box. Then, computer appears to freeze, cant turn off, have to do a hard restart. Dont you just love it, a simple thing like run the traffic explorer and you get all this crap...i hate computers sometimes......
May 3, 201016 yr If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend you check out this thread at FSDeveloper.http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?...ation_%28FSX%29Following their instructions precisely solved my SDK related problems.Good Luck !!
