Acceleration Mustang CEM Guide?

Featured Replies

Regardless of how hard I try, by literally playing around with various settings for RPM, fuel mix and manifold pressure, I always burn out the engine of the Acceleration Mustang within a few minutes after takeoff; that is if I have the 'stress damages engine' realism setting enabled. It really bugs me that I must 'cheat' to fly it and I've yet to find any guides on what it takes to keep from wrecking the engine. Any ideas on this? Thanks for reading, TFM.

FSX Acceleration does not have any performance guides for the P51 but there are a lot of performance information on the Internet. Here's one site I found: http://www.spitfireperformance.com/mustang/mustangtest.html. Do a Google search for P-51 Mustang Performance and I think you'll find what you need or can try with the realism settings turned on plus a lot of information about this aircraft's history. Hope this helps.Best regards,Jim

The Mustang in Acceleration is a modified racing Mustang. Some of the mods in this Mustang allow the pilot to greatly overboost the engine. The high boost levels increase the intake temperature (pressure causes the temp to rise) and without cooling the intake charge, the engine cylinders will experience detonation and eventually fail. The stock Merlin engine manifold pressure limit is around 65 inches, so you can have a perfectly reliable engine if you keep the manifold pressure lower (i.e. use less throttle). The more power you use the greater the likelihood of getting damage. You can engage the ADI (anti-detonation injection) which will allow you to run at full power until you run out of ADI fluid. The switch is on the panel (look behind the stick at the bottom of the panel) and there is an ADI quantity gauge near the top of the panel.Flying the Reno Air Racing Tutorial explains the need to use ADI.Good luck.

Hi FolksTFM -There's a set of P-51 Flight Notes in the FSX Learning Center, when coupled with the kneeboard's Checklisthopefully they'll supply sufficiently detailed information.Either click - Learning Center -> Aircraft Information -> Acceleration Aircraft -> Acceleration Pack aircraft -> North American P51 Mustang -> Flight Notesor -Learning Center -> Index -> P -> P-51 (North American, Mustang) -> FlyingHTHATBPaul
