May 10, 201016 yr Hello everyone, I recently ran in to this freware software called freetrack, I was just wondering if anyone has used this program and their thoughts? Irealize that there is some self building that has ti be done, which from the looks of it doesnt seem very complicated. So I guess what im wondering is if this is too good to be true???Thanks Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
May 10, 201016 yr I've been using Freetrack with FS9 and FSX for about two years now, with great results.I started out with a normal webcam which worked quite well, but about a year ago switched to using a Wiiremote with a Bluetooth connection, which offers tracking results on par with TIR 4. Rather than try to make the headgear myself, I paid somebody $15 to make me a ball cap with three IR lights sewn in and a battery pack on the back. Unfortunately it seems he got out of the hat-making business a while ago, but you can check out the forums at free-track.net to see some of the other interesting ideas people have come up with. The Freetrack forum doesn't seem to be quite as active as it once was, but the devs and users are very friendly and helpful. I actually just re-installed Freetrack on my new rig yesterday. Although I wouldn't be much of a help as far as constructing the headgear, perhaps I could offer a tip or two if you run into any trouble setting up the camera and software.Good luck! May 10, 201016 yr TrackIR is not that expensive and is plug in and play. It'll save you a lot of time fussing around...I'd say it's worth it. - Red E8500 @ 4.1 | EVGA 275GTX (overclocked) | 2x2GB Mushkin Enhanced Redline @ 1066 | Samsung 24inch LCD @ 1920x1080 |
