Hi,I am considering buying a 1T Western Digital 64mb cache hard drive as my new primary drive. Do you fine gentlemen think it will work well with my Asus P6TD Deluxe MB and 6G of 1600 mhz ram and the specs below? I was considering a 300G velociraptor but decided not to for now. Does anyone know if the WD 64mb cache version is much faster in reality than the 32mg cache version? Will standard cables connect to the MB or do I need something different?Thank you for the advice.Stephen

Should fit in with no issues Stephen - regular SATA cable. Will you be using it for the OS or FSX or both?If both - not a good idea - if either - no problems.I have my OS/Storage/Programs on a 1TB drive partitioned into 3 and I have FSX on it's own 600G VRaptor and another 1TB drive for internal backup. No problems.Vic

I've read a few reports in some of the hardware forums that suggest the 32 versus 64 MB cache is not making a noticeable difference except in some synthetic benchmarks. But one thing to be careful of...the WD Caviar Green drives are 7200 RPM drives that spin the platter down to 5400 when not in active use (to save energy and cut down on noise), and that can cause stutters when scenery tiles load for the first time. The Caviar Black drives are what you want for a FS drive. The Green versions are fine for mass storage and other applications that don't need continuous speedy access to files.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO
