May 14, 201016 yr I'm thinking about getting REX 2.0 Extreme and would like to know if there are any drawbacks to running it in conjunction with the MD-11 performance-wise. My system is:4 gig of matched DDR-3-1600 ram6600 Quad-core processor with a slight overclock to 2.67gigPNY 8800GT 512 meg Graphics card21" gateway widescreen monitor120 gig hitachi hard drivemain processor cooler w/fanAsus P5Q3 motherboardCurrently my system is giving me 30 fps on average with medium settings. Anybody have anything to say about Rex 2?Regards,jack noulet
May 14, 201016 yr I've got REX 2 in my quest for somthing that would convice FSX to stop reversing the direction of winds aloft (jets flow West to East except in the microslop world). It's real pretty, nice too look at but I might go back to HiFi Sim products because I am very unhappy with the user interface. It's very toyish, and I still don't understand how it works since it seems to load weather once then as you fly the weather never changes. That is kinda wierd. I've not noticed any impact on performance except it takes 6 min to do it's thing when starting FSX. Dan Downs KCRP
May 14, 201016 yr Thanks for the comments Dan. I'll have to digest what you have mentioned and hopefully make the right decision as to purchasing this software add-on.Regards,jack noulet

The last SP made the weather downloads much faster. I cannot however change the update frequency, I don't even know if there is such a feature. For the original poster, I don't see a significant frame rate hit by using REX on my dual core 3GHz/4GB DDR2 RAMStefan Ticusan Stefan Ticusan
May 14, 201016 yr Stefan, this is off topic but very interesting. I bought REX2 last November but when I check my version for selecting the correct service update I discover I have Ver 1. Well darn. I've left a post on their forum to clear this up hopefully. Thanks for the tip. Dan Downs KCRP

The executable you get is version 1, you need to download an update to version 2, I have no idea why they do that. Once updated to version 2, you can apply the last SPStefan Ticusan Stefan Ticusan
May 14, 201016 yr The bummer is their instructions for updating to Version 2 now read download the file from the retailer, which of course I cannot do because the link is expired. Catch 22. Dan Downs KCRP

Catch 22.Somebody posted a link in their forums for the updater, check out this topic:http://realenvironmentxtreme.com/forum/ind...hp?topic=7621.0looks like it works. You might want to try the support channel though.. Stefan Ticusan

Anybody have anything to say about Rex 2?Regards,jack nouletI had the same concerns a month or so ago when I bought it, after installing it and setting every option to it's maximum the frame rate hit has been pretty small (maybe 5 fps max) but it has made quite a difference visually. REX 2 does have a lot of scaling options so if it does chew a little too much frames at full settings you will find a good medium, which will still look much nicer than default. Jay Vorkapic
