FSX.cfg tweaking question

Featured Replies

Hi,When I want to try a new cfg setting, is it possible to pause the game, open and edit the cfg file, save , then unpause or do I need to close fsx to edit the cfg file?It maybe a naive question but I am not into tweaking, rather into flying :( Thanks
Im almost positive that you have to tweak the cfg file then start fsx to see the changes, you can do it while flying if you want but any tweaks will not be applied until a full start of fsx

I would most certainly think that FSX should be turned off. Changing the cfg in a running Windows based program is begging for trouble I

You need to restart the renderer to see the changes, which in most cases means restarting the sim.

Well, since you can save configurations ( 30 some-odd parameters ) and reload them "on the fly", it might just depend on what you want to tweak. You can always try it.One way to do it is to save a copy of the current config file to the same location (my documents) as the other saved config files; then edit, save, and reload it using the options-settings-load menu procedure. I have done it, it does work, but perhaps it will depend on the items you want to change. Whether you see any change is something to be experimented with...Loyd

Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
