Hi all, Well we finally have all of the votes in and the results are below. First I want to again thank the contestants for your submissions. They are all worthy to have a perminant home in my virtual hangar and I look forward to using them all very often. Thanks again to the judges that took the time to not only cast your votes but for helping keep the contest true to all of the standards in which it was meant for. Last but certainly not least, thanks to PMDG for making available what I think are the best paint kits in the FS community! One of my hopes from the start of even the paint tutorial was for others to see and appreciate them as much as so many of us do. They truly are remarkable and help us all create outstanding liveries.I regret to inform that we did have to disqualify the Black Pearl entry since it failed to comply to all of the rules. Failure to sign full name to posts is not only a rule of the forum but was clearly stated that it was a rule of the contest as well. Being that this contest was held on the PMDG forums I feel that at the very least the contest should comply to both the AVSIM and PMDG rules. Further more it was also pointed out from Taylor early in the contest that he make the correction and it unfortunately still went uncorrected. As much as I hate to eliminate such a fine entry, I feel that it would be unfair to all others to allow any exception to the rule. Very recently the author made the correction and added his name to his signature, but unfortunately it was after the decision was made and was over 3 weeks after submissions were final, once again, I'm sorry. The winners are:1st Place1.gifMark Aldridge's Lufthansa2nd Place2.gifAlexander Roithmair's Austrian Arrows3rd Place3.gifTaylor Oldham's United Airlines*Final Points for the above after judges were as follows:82 = Lufthansa66 = Austrian Arrows52 = United AirlinesI would also like to thank Matthias Hanel for his efforts and remarkable G-MAJM special livery. I'm sure it would have placed in the top if it had been entered in time and just wanted to give honorable mention to his fine work! It would be great to have a link to that beauty as I know a few of the judges and myself would love to have it :)I will be in contact with the winners to arrange that prizes. If I don't already have your email address, please email me at [email protected] again, and please continue to create liveries with these high standards for all of us to continue to enjoy!!!

For some reason I thought there was only 4 entries and I was shocked that I had some how came back. But I guess the black pearl was disqualified which I am guessing... not I am sure it would have taken my spot maybe even 2nd or 1st if he wasn't dq'd The competition was fierce that is all I have to say.

Congratulations to the finalists, and of course commiserations to those who did not make the final cut. A big shout out to Dan too, for his extremely philanthropic gesture in arranging the contest at his own expense.Al

I agree with Al! Dan is in fact the man in this forum.

Sorry but can't you read? My real name is in the signature!

I definitely can read, but you must have not read everything I wrote. Up until a couple days ago your signature was a big red Airwolf pic that did not have your name. I actually held out for over 3 weeks before I agreed that it was more than enough time to wait for you to comply. Anyway, I've been checking in everyday in hopes to avoid the decision but being that your sig came 4 weeks late is not my problem. The rules were clear, and being that there was only 6 and you were even reminded almost 2 months ago (April 5th) feel it is more than fair, especially after reading your responce. To also note, even though I started this contest I'm not even on the judge panel (other than casting my vote on the poll).Hopefully we'll have another contest and a better turnout as people slowly get to see how easy and fun repaints can be.

Hi Dan, Paint Judges and PMDG community,I can't believe it. Normally I don't win anything so this is a surprise, although anything that's PMDG-related seems to have a good luck touch about it! Why? I will share with you that I never paid any actual $$ for the PMDG Queen of the Skies (shock, horror I hear you cry!!!), because I actually won first prize for the complete 747-400 flightsim package in a different competition (Airliner World) that PMDG sponsored about a year or so ago, so my luck continues.I just want to say a BIG thanks to those that participated in the competition, those that took the time to review, critique and vote for them. Even with 4 entries , it was a close run thing. ALL were high quality entries I have to say and demonstrated some great technical and arty paint skills. Special thanks goes to Dan since he sponsored the competition out of his own pocket and of course, valuable info from his tutorial and other threads on this forum definitely helped me hone my skills since I onlly started painting 7 months ago. Hopefully this demonstrates you don't need to be a 'rocket scientist' (which I'm not) to give this a go... just a little bit of patience and learning. :( I look forward to claiming my prize :( , but I hope more than this, we can launch another paint competition in the near future since I know a few people missed the last one but are motivated to paint! Thanks,
