May 19, 201016 yr Hello,Building a new system for FSX - rampage III and 980x - i have problems to find a good ram to achieve my system. In switzerland/europe, i have rally great problems to find the RAM adviced by ASUS (compatibility list on their web site "QVL.pdf")Looking for the G.SKILL F3-16000CL7T-6GBPS(XMP) 6GB(3 x 2GB) DS - - 7-8-7-20 1.65 ● or the OCZ OCZ3B2000LV6GK 6GB(3 x 2GB) DS - - 7-8-7 1.65 ● ●but it seems that the ocz is no more sold...and that the G.skill is not imported in my country...So, i need your help... could you tell me if you have found another good low latency RAM CL7 and freq. 2000 (or more) that works great with a rampage III ?And some adresses of European or US internet resellers where i could find it ?... i've lost my time on NeweggShould i buy a CL8 memory and boost the frequencies to 2250mhz, as i've seen someone on this forum doing it ?What's the best for FSX ?Thanks a lot for your help ! alan
May 19, 201016 yr Look for corsair dominator or corsair dominator gt. This is possibly the best ram money can buy, and comes in many speeds and latencies.

May 19, 201016 yr Look for corsair dominator or corsair dominator gt. This is possibly the best ram money can buy, and comes in many speeds and latencies.I was going to get this ram until i did some review research. Not good at all for overclocking
May 19, 201016 yr Author I was going to get this ram until i did some review research. Not good at all for overclockingThanks for your warning ... then, which good value triple chanel 6gb or more cl7 2000 mhz RAM for an asus rampage III and anywhere on the web who i could buy it ? as you can see, it's not so obvious ! ( subsidiary, is avsim localized in USA or UK ?...)
May 19, 201016 yr Thanks for your warning ... then, which good value triple chanel 6gb or more cl7 2000 mhz RAM for an asus rampage III and anywhere on the web who i could buy it ? as you can see, it's not so obvious ! ( subsidiary, is avsim localized in USA or UK ?...)I would look at Mushkin memory if you can get it where you are. I have the 998805 kit, 6GB 1600Mhz 6-8-6-24-1T, and I love it. It is rock solid, and you might get it to run at 2000Mhz, but I don't think it is necessary for FSX. I am getting great performance at 1680Mhz with a 21 cpu multiplier x210 fsb setting. Shane Gavin
May 19, 201016 yr With a CPU sporting an unlocked multiplier like the 980X, you can get close to the same memory bandwidth with good CAS 6 1600 MHz RAM. My Mushkin Redline sticks will run 1708MHz at 6-6-5-18-1T timings, which is neck and neck with the best CAS 7 2GHz stuff out there, and much more available and reliable.Without the unlocked CPU mult it's different...some overclocks based on BCLK settings alone need the faster RAM because the granularity available with memory clock mults is very coarse.CheersBob ScottColonel, USAF (ret)ATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VColorado Springs, CO Bob Scott | President and CEO, AVSIM Inc ATP Gulfstream II-III-IV-V Sys1 (MSFS20+24/XPlane12+11): AMD 9800X3D, water 2x240mm, MSI MPG X670E Carbon, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, nVidia RTX4090FE Alienware AW3821DW 38" 21:9 GSync, 2x4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2x2TB Samsung 990 SSD, EVGA 1000P2 PSU, 12.9" iPad Pro Thrustmaster TCA Boeing Yoke, TCA Airbus Sidestick, Twin TCA Airbus Throttle quads, PFC Cirrus Pedals, Coolermaster HAF932 case Sys2 (P3Dv5/v4): i9-13900KS, water 2x360mm, ASUS Z790 Hero, 32GB GSkill 7800MHz CAS36, ASUS RTX4090 Samsung 55" JS8500 4K TV@60Hz, 3x 2TB WD SN850X 1x 4TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVME SSD, EVGA 1600T2 PSU Fiber link to Yamaha RX-V467 Home Theater Receiver, Polk/Klipsch 6" bookshelf speakers, Polk 12" subwoofer, 12.9" iPad Pro PFC yoke/throttle quad/pedals with custom Hall sensor retrofit, Thermaltake View 71 case, Stream Deck XL button box Sys3 (DCS/P3Dv4/ATS/ETS): AMD 7800X3D, MSI MPG X870E Carbon, Noctua NH-D15S, 64GB GSkill 6000/30, EVGA RTX3090 Alienware AW3420DW 34" 21:9 GSync, Corsair HX1000i PSU, 4TB Crucial T705 PCIe5 + 2TB Samsung 970Evo Plus, TM TCA Officer Pack, Saitek combat pedals, TM Warthog, TM RS300 FF wheel/pedals, Coolermaster HAF XB case

What model of Mushkin Redline are you using? Shane Gavin
May 20, 201016 yr Author Regulary on mac systems, i'm lost about bios and RAM tweaking.. so, thanks for all your advices...In this RAM comparison chart, wich one should you consider the best one for the Rampage III / 980X combination ? I mean, for overclocking and running Cas latency of 6 or 7 ? The Super Talent looks nice...but the reputation for overclocking is not so good... (... and 1$ = 1.10.- swiss franc) http://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteVergleichen1...185806%2c183102My attention goes toMushkin Redline 3x2GB, DDR3-1600, CL6-8-6-24Corsair DOMINATOR GT + Airflow Fan [email protected] :- Why is the Corsair 120$ more expensive than the Muskin ? reliability ? commercial offer ? no fan on the Muskin ?- Other question, what is the difference between all these RAMs regarding the last number of the CL description ? one RAM is "x-x-x-24", the other "x-x-x-20"... the description of the Ram CL is an alchemy and it would be helpful to understand wich one of these numbers are important for the best FSX operations !(sorry for my english :( )THANKS, alan
May 20, 201016 yr Corsair is more expensive because the airflow fan ($35) and it comes with a lifetime warranty through corsair.
May 20, 201016 yr Author strange... they don't sell 6 gb kits ?http://www.pricewatch.com/system_memory/->Chris493... ok, that's the differenceyour corsair is than stock speed 1600 and you've overclocked it to 2000mhz ? works well ?
May 21, 201016 yr No. It's stock speed is 2000MHz from corsair. I didn't OC it. Corsair sell it in 3, 6 and 12 GB kits. I have 2x 6GB 2000MHz kits. Model no. is CMG6GX3M3A2000C7
May 21, 201016 yr Author Ok Chris, thanks for the details. I think i'll try to find this model ! in switzerland or in Berlin where i'm flying in a few hours...Thanks again... i think the question is resolved
