May 23, 201016 yr I was having some fun in NYC today with my Cerasim B412P. For my touch n go, ATC instructed me to enter a left downwind for 31L - which I did but noticed on base 10 FPS is pretty low and somewhat difficult to control... even for a slower helicopter.Te question I have is are you guys' with the 4.0+ GHz clock on your CPU's able to run 30+ fps with similar settings as I am in this shot? Key things:A) Downtown NYC is in view:( Default AI set to average 50% (no cars though)C) Clouds set to medium highD) LOD radius middle sliderE) Autogen NormalI don't care about FSDreamTeam payware JFK but I'd like to be able to run the same settings I have now but with pure smoothness which in my book requires 30 fps to start. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 24, 201016 yr Ryan, I just upgraded to an I7-930. Running the same settings as you ( I have UT2 @ 50%), I achieved frame rates in the low 30's to upper 20's using the Beachcraft Duke and the PMDG J41. You can see my rigs specs in my signature. I'm very happy with the performance I'm getting. I'm trying to decide if I want to lay out the cash for a GTX 480.
May 24, 201016 yr Yes to your question plus a little tweaking for your setup. The biggest thing that I noticed when upgrading from Q6600 (see below what I have now), was even if I get some low frame rates I never lose control of the plane. Ralph Peebles
May 24, 201016 yr With my rig, see below, I get around 20FPS colse to EWR or between JFK and LGA. When landing it can drop to 15 or so, but it is still smooth. I have my FPS locked at 30 and as soon as I get away from EWR, JFK or LGA my FPS jumps right up to 29-30.I could get higher than 15 when landing or 20 when over the top of one of the big three, but I have my scenery sliders maxed out except for mesh and that is set at 10m. I also have aircraft lables enabled because I like to see what the AI is and what it is doing. On top of that I have my commerical and GA traffic set to 30% and am using MyTrafficX. The point of all of this is if you want higher frame rates you may look at your settings and see if there are any that you would be willing to turn down. I do not, I would rather live with the 15 on landing, as long as it is smooth and on my system 15 is smooth coming into JFK or EWR.
May 24, 201016 yr Author Yeah true but I'm already set to 2x low and I dislike the look of 1x high. It reminds me of FS9 water ick! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 24, 201016 yr Hi I remember , on old I7 920 @ 4.1 GHz FPS around 25-32 with 2x low water setting . This area the problems are water and Manhattan Building at skyline .I used to fly FSX on 6400+ amd in this area , the result not far from you . now 6400+ just for web browsing and other entertain. Are you tweak CFG file ,yet ??
May 24, 201016 yr Author I don't have the latest tweaks - I believe the bufferpools and latest tweaks are for those with really nice video cards... right?I have the original "Nick N" tweaks. I also run nHancer (better IQ I think) and the FPS Limiter .bat program. I generally fly rural areas where I can get 25-30fps with payware cockpits but on occassion I venture into big cities haha. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 24, 201016 yr I saw your rig . my experience with win XP /vista / 7 , win 7 is winner . It's give you +10-25% FPS .
May 26, 201016 yr Ryan, I just upgraded to an I7-930. Running the same settings as you ( I have UT2 @ 50%), I achieved frame rates in the low 30's to upper 20's using the Beachcraft Duke and the PMDG J41. You can see my rigs specs in my signature. I'm very happy with the performance I'm getting. I'm trying to decide if I want to lay out the cash for a GTX 480.Would would get a better improvement with a faster CPU than upgrading from a GTX 285 to a GTX 480 in FSX. However, you said you just upgraded to a faster CPU. If you play more games than just FSX then I can understand why you would want a GTX 480. I recently upgraded from a GTX 285 to a GTX 480 and I still get the same frame rates in FSX. I have an i7 920 CPU with turbo boost turned on. If FSX was the only game I played in my PC and I didn't care about other PC games, and if I had the money to upgrade to either an i7 960 or a GTX 480, I would upgrade to an i7 960. Actually I would not upgrade at all in that situation and I would wait for a faster chip than the i7 960 that I could afford.
May 26, 201016 yr Gameplayer, I'm going to hold off on the GPU upgrade for now. I'm going to upgrade my power supply first, since I would have to do that anyway to go to the GTX 480. I think I'll wait to see if the prices come down some.
