May 28, 201016 yr Hello everyone, Flying into Bogata columbia the other day I had a little bit of an issue. Wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I did the ZIP1B STAR into the airport. When I entered it into the FMS it entered with no problem however...the intercept magenta lines were all over the place. So I decided to just deleted the STAR and enter it in Manually. I ended up entering it all fine but again however...I was unable to get the "intercept" checkpoints to come up within the FMS....What I did was just used the FIX/RADIAL/DISTANCE command. It basically did the same thing but I had to use a guess for the radial and distance. My question is.....how or what is the right command so that it shows in the FMS as an intercept command in FMS??Thanks guysCapt Paul C. P.S. This is in the PMDG MD-11
May 28, 201016 yr Try INTC (intercept course to fix) using one of the IAF's published on the chart. Don't get hung up on programming the FMS to automate the entire flight route, it is often easier to fly HDG to the localizer and let APPR handle the rest. Dan Downs KCRP
June 11, 201015 yr I would do the same...If the STAR is too messed up I will use only the IAF point from the paper charts (I don't fly without them:) and use APPR button to intercept the localizer. Regards, Martin Martinov / VATSIM 1207931

What exactly is the IAF point and where do i find that on charts i can't seem to find it.Many thanks. Phil Brewer. My Flight Sim Blog www.sim-deck.co.uk
