Hi,Firstly I think I have heard before that there is too much ground friction to be realistic in FS9.For example, I find it very hard to taxi into a gate properly (slowly) in the PMDG 747, because when the plane looses its 'momentum', you need quite a bit of power to get it going again but then you have to cutoff some of that power or the plane shoots off quite fast.This happens in pretty much all the planes I think though, I just notice it more with the PMDG 747. Is there any fix for the sim or for the aircraft in particular?On another note, has anyone noticed that from the moment an aircraft's engine is running in the sim (especially single props), the plane always slowly moves forward, even with the parking brake or just brakes activated?Thanks,Phil

Don't even try to taxi single-engine...is just...too unrealistic.IMO, FS9 doesn't simulate any type of prop engine very well, especially on ground. They accelerate way too fast and with too little power lever movement; the left-turning effects are over-simulated when they are set to "normal".I guess that what you need to do for taxiing in a more realistic way is try not to move the power levers to the limits (both fwd and aft). For instance, in the MD-80 you shouldn't set thrust higher than 1.2 EPR; depending on the elevation, you may need thrust values closer to 1.2, but usually at MSL 1.1 is more quite enough. Don't ever close the throttles fully, and if you do, don't let the airplane come to a complete stop; the steadier the thrust levers are the smoother the taxi (and the more economic the taxiing is, because fuel co$t$). Also, don't let the airplane stop when turning; always leave the nose wheel centred before stopping.I assume the EPR values are transferable to the 747, since you have 4 engines all of them giving a higher max thrust. As for the prop engines, set the turbo prop condition lever to the "low idle" position or similar on other aircraft (it's named that way in the Beech). For the piston engines, try taxiing at 1000 rpm; this is the so-called "GA taxi power".Try it this way and see if your taxiing improves.

Firstly I think I have heard before that there is too much ground friction to be realistic in FS9.
There is a modified sim1.dll with more realistic ground friction values. With that modified module I've been able to taxi in idle with no problem at all. I even purchased a joystick with 2 "throttle" levers so I could taxi turboprops easily (a power lever and a condition lever).Best regards from Colombia,Luis Miguel

I have that sim1.dll in my modules folder. Still my impression is that the PMDG 747-400 behaves like in the OP description of it.
