Adding Acceleration?

Featured Replies

Hello,In you all's opinion, can I add "Acceleration" on top of all the add-on's (Scenery, aircraft, utilities, etc) without affecting them? Thank you!

Not recommended. If you do take the chance, uninstall SP2, then install Acceleration. Then pray. :(

I tried uninstalling SP2 and installing Acceleration about 2 weeks ago to get carrier and midair refuelling options and it was a disaster. The carrier ops and midair refuelling was great but I could no longer get the wingflex and wheel bogey animations to work on my replays of heavy metal landings. Tried uninstalling Acceleration and reinstalling SP2 and nothing would work on MSFS because I think it screwed up SP1 as well.Tried reinstalling SP1 and SP2 and the computer didn't recognise my SP1 installation kept asking me to install SP1 even though I'd already done that.Thank goodness I had a seperate back up of MSFS on a seperate disk otherwise I would have had to reinstall ALL my addons,GEX,REX UT2 etc.So unless you are really into carrier ops I would be very cautious about doing this.Alex C

Thanks for the advise! I think I'll leave things alone, unless I have to do a complete reinstall because of a computer hiccup!Paul

I think that is a good option.Recently I needed to reinstall FSX. FSx, SP1 then Accelration. And then only did I reinstall all the add ons. No problem.

There's no need to install SP1 first, just FSX and Acceleration. I do that about every 6 month and the performance gain of a fresh install is impressive (I don't use a single tweak)Furthermore there are quite a few very good addons which need Acceleration to function correct, e.g. the Flight Replicas Super Cub and the IRIS Christen Eagle.Just a heads zp; I once tried the repair function and it was a total disaster.

Let me add that Acceleration will decrease performance in certain sceneries. There are some tweaks that will do nothing when using Acceleration. Is Acceleration worth the time and extra cost? For me, YES! I highly recommend it for carrier ops.
