June 7, 201015 yr Greetings everyone! I just downloaded and tried TP and it looks really great! However, I have a couple of questions:1) The scenery is simply wrong... In the place where my home town centrum should be, there is private homes and little parks, and it looks nothing like the real city. I can verify that it IS photoscenery/satelite imagery, but it's obviously not in the correct location. What gives?2) I get some scenery roads that render on top of TP, and it looks awkward. The funny thing is that the roads and railroads, even if looking weird together with TP, is probably more in the right place geographically than TP is... Anyway, I'd like to turn off these roads and stick with TP roads. How can I do this? Many thanks for your help and time! :)Sincerely,Andreas Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78
June 7, 201015 yr Author I just flew around in Bolzano, and again I have this problem. The rendered scenery looks nothing like the satellite images on the web. It looks great, but doesnt render the real scenery - which is a paradox to me because TP is supposed to do exactly that - render the real thing. Here are a couple of pics to show more of the problem:The satellite image of Bolzano:The ingame, f12 view of the same place:What am I doing wrong? I'd be really happy to get this straightened out! Many thanks! :) Andreas Stangenes http://www.youtube.com/user/krsans78 Add me on gamertag: Bullhorns78

June 8, 201015 yr Andreas,1. The TileProxy download does NOT contain a usable configuration file. Get a usable one from Ed's site. and read his startup information.2. be sure and start Tileproxy before Flightsim.3. Neither Tileproxy install, the scenery folder location nor the photo caches NEED to be in the FS9/FSX folder itself- because you are saving photos and creating scenery from them, I think it best to have the scenery folder on a separate HDD if you can put it there. Once it has been located, it cannot be moved without a reinstall to the new location.4. If you actually downloaded images from Bolzano area you should have a saved tile (tile_l15_x17416_y21174.jpg) showing the bridge and river from your screenshot area... you can use the Windows search feature to see if you have anything like this in your cache.5. Make sure your scenery.cfg file has the new 90 entries for TileProxy scenery folders 0000 through 1107still have problems...? post screenshot or copy of DOS window startup... like so ( so we can see if TP is actually started)proxyUser: World \Device\HarddiskVolume3 ===> D:proxyUser: Attempting to attach filter to volume '\Device\HarddiskVolume3' (drive D:)proxyUser: SUCCESS! June 8, 201015 yr Author Thanks for replies! :)I have downloaded the proxyuser.ini file from the tutorial site (Ed's site if I remember correctly?), and I have selected a map site (no. 1), and ensured that the other sites have a # infront of them. I have installed the two files folders on a seperate disc (d:\TPCache\) and edited the .ini file to correspond with this. I have tried to follow the quickstart tutorial to the letter. I have installed a little prog that makes win7 64 bit start with allowing unsigned drivers automatically, and I get no errormessage from the tileproxy.exe dos window when I start this. It says "ready for takeoff". Then I start FSX. I see the tiles being downloaded without errors. I also added a norwegian mapping service to the .ini file (found on this forum) as cache0 and tried that as well. I get very different scenery from cache0 and cache1 (msn). On cache0 I ended up getting almost no scenery at all - just bare, green landscape representing woods and no towns, houses etc. I dont get any errors, and the dos window behaves the same way as on the caches (1,3,4). On cache1 I get real scenery, and also no errors in the dos window. It loads tiles (counts down and says "done", and proceeding to next tile, and it goes very fast). I let it load untill the same tilenumber is just repeated over and over (for me this means that it's done loading current tiles, am I right?). All the buildings are completely flat, and very different from other scenery I have from b4 installing TP. It certainly looks as TP tiles when flying over it. It's just the wrong tiles... June 8, 201015 yr Author Ok after much experimenting I come to the conclusion that it is indeed standard scenery that is being rendered, and not any tp tiles at all... :( I tried to delete custom sceneries from the liberary, but it didnt help. I decided to do a complete reinstall of fsx and sp1+2, fsuipc, TileProxy, but to no avail. Just FYI I uninstalled all addons, sceneries and fsx apps b4 uninstalling sp2 and fsx. I used a registry cleaner and memory cache cleaner b4 rebooting, and then installing fsx (start fsx and reboot), sp1 (start fsx and reboot, sp2 (start fsx and reboot), fsuipc and TP. I am not getting any error messages in TP, and I havent found anything about it in the FAQ or guides so far. June 8, 201015 yr Ok after much experimenting I come to the conclusion that it is indeed standard scenery that is being rendered, and not any tp tiles at all... :( I tried to delete custom sceneries from the liberary, but it didnt help. I decided to do a complete reinstall of fsx and sp1+2, but to no avail. I am not getting any error messages in TP, and I havent found anything about it in the FAQ or guides so far. Please help :( When TP is installed, it changes the configuration of the "scenery library" of fsx, in order to have the tiles produced by TP at the highest priority. If you are still seeing the FSX terrain, something isn't working. Let's do it step by step:1) Backup somewhere the tileproxy configuration file. You will need it later on2) Un-install TP3) Install TP - take note of the caches and the photoreal scenery location you will choose during the installation process4) Start FSX, check the "scenery library". make sure at the beginning there is the list of TP entries. Do you see them?5) Close FSX. in the TP installation folder, edit the tileproxy configuration according to 1). Make sure the location of the caches and the photoreal scenery match the choices you made in 3). Are you sure they match?6) Now start TP, in the TP window you should see at the end the message 'TP is ready to take-off' or something like that. Do you see it?7) Start FSX, but NOT DO start a flight. The TP window should change, you should see a number of dots in several oval patterns and see those dots filled slowly by '#', meaning that TP is loading tiles according to default location of the aircraft. After a while the process will be completed (all the ovals filled with #). Do you see it?8) Now start a flight. The loading phase should take some time. When you are flying, you can understand immediately if TP is working or not by looking at trees and buildings: as TP disables AutoGen (the FSX component responsible for creating trees and houses) you will not see any tree or house when you fly: only the airport and related buildings are 3D element. Everything else is just an image. What do you see when you fly?Hope this will help,Paolo

June 8, 201015 yr Author Ok I have tried to wait untill the bubbles in the dos window fill up b4 I click "fly now". However, there is 1 bubble that doesnt fill. I dont know if this is normal? June 8, 201015 yr Author Here is yet another post in what is growing into a thread, and I'm almost doing it all by my self :( I much appreciate those of you who have contributed your thoughts! I suddenly realised that I had placed the cache folders on my D: drive, which is a FAT32 drive. I formatted the drive, and made it NTFS, and reinstalled TP. Still no go. I tried to uninstall TP and install the cache on my C drive, but that didn't work either :( I dont understand this at all. Every time I start FSX now with TP in the background, my sliders are automatically adjusted (no autogen, and medium range etc). So it is definately connected. Also the moving map works without a hitch. I cant see any trees or buildings, but the scenery ISNT TP. Or if it is, then why isnt it rendering the real life images? The landscape presented is obviously from *somewhere*, but it isnt showing the place I actually am at. It is, as someone above said, standard scenery without autogen. Looks good though :( But I dont need TP for that - and I really want this to work.Ok it's bedtime now. I hope someone clever will answer this thread and help me move along :) Good night! June 9, 201015 yr Author Good morning folks! Just a little thought that popped in to my head:I installed the superdriverplus application that automates the F8 startup procedure. After that I installed TP. I *still* got a messagebox during installation that says that the program tried to install an unsigned driver. I just closed it, not thinking any more about it. And Im not getting any errormessages when running TP, but it is obviously not working. Is this a problem with an unsigned driver still - is there some manual registration part of the installation procedure that I skipped?
