June 15, 201015 yr Hi, I need a little advise from you guys that have more experience then I do on this great aircraft. I'm having difficulty controlling EGT when I am climbing to altitude. I seem to be into the solid green on the EGT indicator unless I roll back power and reduce climb to a painfully slow rate. I must be doing something wrong somewhere. Any help on what steps I'm missing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all,CaptMacDon McDaniel
June 15, 201015 yr Don,The target EGT during climb is the second white hash mark, which represents 10C below the calculated VRL limit for the current phase of flight and atmospheric conditions. You'll have to manipulate the Power Levers during climb to keep the EGT at that (variable) value. This is normal.Climb performance shouldn't really be an issue unless you've got the Engine Anti-Ice on. With the Engine Anti-Ice on, EGT is significantly higher and can become very limiting. Make sure it's off unless you're in actual icing conditions.Another thing you can do to expedite your climb is to leave the Condition Levers at 100%. This is approved technique in the real airplane when additional climb/cruise performance is needed.Edited to Add:Make sure you're giving consideration to your gross weight and ISA deviation when determining your cruise altitude.

June 16, 201015 yr Have EGT overrunning every time during engines startup procs., more than 1300C. :( What is it may be? It's open bug, or only my personal problem? Also have internal cockpit sounds disappearance at regular time after views changing - from VC to external, pax vew, and then in VC again. :( I would like to hear any variants of these problems solving (if it possible will be, of course) Regards,Stanislav KochetovAirBridge Cargo Airlines GND OPS/B747 Load Master, UUEE/UUDD/USSS/UHPP/UNKL/UHHH/UAFM/ZUUU/ZHCC/ZSPD/EHAM/VHHH/VMMC/RJAA/RKSI...
June 16, 201015 yr Remember to unfeather propellers before startup.http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=261431
June 16, 201015 yr Stanislav,The startup guide that Grzegorz linked to should get you squared away on the startup procedure. For the sound issue, that's an internal FSX bug that and can be cured by tapping the 'Q' key twice. It's not terribly elegant, but we're stuck with it.
June 18, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi,Yes - these engines are EGT limited pretty much all the time. Before switch engine anti-ice on, reduce thrust so the EGT is at or below the first check mark, then when you switch engine anti-ice on, the EGT increase will not exceed the maximum. The reason for the EGT rise is because switching on engine anti-ice takes additional bleed air which then results in less cooling of the exhaust gases, resulting in a raised EGT. :)Best regards,Robin.
