June 21, 201015 yr THta is something id LOVE to see. an MD11 expansion of the MD-10.For those who don't know what the MD-10 is, its a DC-10 with an MD-11 cockpit. Fedex operates them.
June 21, 201015 yr I'm no fan of external models, although I got the 747-8i for the performance optimization.I would buy this right away though, but it's just because I'm a DC-10 a really excited user hehe
June 21, 201015 yr Commercial Member The problem would be that they couldn't just do a external model. The electrical and hydraulic systems have quite a few differences amongst other things, plus the performance data would need a lot of tweaking and I doubt Fedex would release that data. Hopefully something they may consider in the future when they get round to fixing the existing MD11 bugs Rob Prest
June 22, 201015 yr The problem would be that they couldn't just do a external model.Sure they could. They did it with the 747-400X and the 747-8. The 747-8 model runs on the 747-400 performance.I personally like to go to spot view every now and then to admire the beauty that is these planes. I like the way the DC-10 looks over the MD-11 anyway, looks better with no winglets. I'd definately buy an expansion like this!Jeff Calder Jeff Calder
June 23, 201015 yr - I dont know guys. MD11 Has LSAS. MD10 does not. How do you suppose that would work? Peter Osborn
June 23, 201015 yr Commercial Member Just like new engines and wings in the PMDG 747-8i. ;)But personally I'm not a big fan of exterior only models, especially payware. Not interested. Michael A2A Simulations
June 24, 201015 yr Hey mike- Different engines and wings are not the same as differences or abscence of a system like LSAS.It just won't work on this one. Although they may consider building one from scratch which PMDG would do with grace. I am with you- i Dont care for the Ext model stuff so much. I crave the accurate system modelling and no sustitute will satisfy- even if it were made of gold. Of course i would have to rethink that based on the new price of gold eh :( Peter Osborn
June 24, 201015 yr The -908 software tweaks LSAS in order to approximate DC/MD-10 handling, so thats not really a deal breaker. Sure, LSAS has PAP, PNL, and some other stuff that the MD-10 doesn't have, but I wouldn't say those differences are any greater in magnitude than the wing/engine differences between the 744 and 748.I think the DC-10 is WAY more pleasing to the eye than the MD-11, and would love to see an MD-10 expansion. Love it.
June 24, 201015 yr Well I would rather have them do a DC-10/MD-10 sort of setup from scratch rather than an expansion---but by all means let them take from the md-11 what they need so it can work on the MD-10 or DC-10It's also kind of like doing a 717...would be a great addition. Steven Penninck
