VRS Superbug no longer working? RIG caution maybe?

Featured Replies

Hey so i recently bought a VRS superbug, havent had much time to play with it but anyways..the issue. I tried it out yesterday for a few minuets and everything looked good and worked fine, i am using a PS3 controller ATM as my joystick is not here yet. I was able to control the aircraft just fine and i could see yoke animations just fine etc, flaps were responding to controller inputs and all. Now today when i wen to go fly, i noticed that i was able to get in to the air but when i switched out of VC view, i noticed that no flaps/rudders/Ailerons were moving. The plane seems to operate as if they were moving but i cannot see them move. I decided to land on the nearest airport to see if it was a failure but it was not, on ground i was able to move the right Ailerons but only a bit. If i moved the stick to the left, it moved up and vice versa. But the res tof the aircraft remained still, no rudder, wing tip flaps etc, nothing moves. I do how ever see that it says "RIG" in the right had screen and the master caution light is on. Now this was not the case a few days ago. I can controller the aircraft just fine, fire missiles, gear etc from the controller so i do not see why it will not detect it. Any ideas why this is? I cannot seem to figure it out. (The stick dose not even move in the cockpit anymore it is left hanging to the left and will not respond to controller inputs, I can move all other aircraft just fine and they show movement and all but the VRS is nto working anymore. Thanks, help would be appericiated.

The SuperBug is a fantastic package but this is not a plane you can just jump in and fly. You will need to spend some time reading the manual and making sure you have initialized all the systems properly. For example, you have to have FSUIPC installed, the free version at least.Cheers,Noel.

Yes I do have FSUIPC installed but its ver 4.3, Is that a big deal or should i upgrade ot a new version? I think the latest is 4.6 Yes ill read the manual this weekend when i have timne to look at it.

CruisXThis is what I wrote for my review of the Superbug from the manual:RIG CautionOne very important setting that is stressed in the manual that under \Settings\Realism\Flight Model that the "General" Slider must be full right. When you fly a VRS FA18E variant in FSX, you get a warning both verbal and a "yellow caution" sign, this is the "RIG" caution, and you just need to "wiggle" the joystick, to make sure that the controls have been "detected". If this warning persists it means that you need to move your "GENERAL" slider full right. That should fix your problemRegardsPeterH
Yes, I read your review. I have it all set up properlly but still no movement from the Ailerons except the right one goes up and down (but when stick is moved right and left). Also another thing i noticed, manual says to shake the sticks in all directions to let the system know that input is avaiable. Did that but still no movement. I do not fully know if this is having an affect on the flying as when i turn i loose my speed very quickly, almost imposiable to hold a high speed turn for more than 3 seconds as speed goes from 300 to around 120 in a few seconds. I even re-installed it but yet the probmel continues to come up. Once i am in the air though, the RIG warning goes away but still no movement. I am starting to wonder if the flaps are even working as i was flying and i noticed that they just seem to be moving as if they were eing moved by the wind back and forth.

Their customer service is excellent...have you tried posting a note in the support forum? http://forums.vrsimulations.com/forums/php...wforum.php?f=21

Thanks, ill try there, its a weird problem. In some videos on youtube i see the flaps/Ailerons move and in other i do not. weird

All I can advice is to go back to the manual and do the entire preperation procedure to get the controller proparly detected by the VRS utility program. You get this RIG caution when the controllers were not detected correctly and best thing to do is simply to redo the decting sequence. That should clear it.Heh, I also did a review on this (FS9 version, Avsim.com), I began with the same problem. Got over it by redoing the controller detecting procedure.

Have you reset your controller in the Setup control? Have you activated your control surfaces with CTRL SHIFT F?With this, you REALLY need to read the manual and follow the flight tutorial or you will soon be dead in the water.

Yes I have used CTRL SHIFT F and i have read the manual, Now my exams are done so i will have time to play ith it when i get home today. Ill try the tutorial flight again and follow everything. Hopefully it works out.

I have a question to interject, please.I am considering purhasing this AC. Biggest stumbling block is the controls. I have everything working fine, using FSUIPC to handle all my controllers. I know this will not work with the F/A-18.Has anyone discovered an easy way to switch back and forth different versions of the "standard.xml" file in the FSX/Controls folder?Thank you.Joe

Whats the best way to fully uninstall the Superbug? Is it via the uninstaller that comes with it. It seems that the sounds are no longer working either, once i was in a nose dive towards the ground and i hear it say " Pull Up" and the game froze, thats the only time i have ever heard any cockpit noises other than the first time i used the plane.

I have three batch files - Single, Twin & Quad which represent Single engine, Twin and Quad. I set up the "standard.XML" file properly for each type individually and then saved them. Then copy them as SINGLE.XML, TWIN.XML & QUAD.XML. The batch file just does:copy single.xml standard.xmlOnly thing to be aware of - if you unplug your controller and plug it back into a different USB port, you will lose any custom settings. If you plug it back into the same port, should be no problem.Vic
