June 21, 201015 yr Hello All I recently did alot of overtime this month and go some extra cash to spend.I want to upgrade my computer alittle but not by a new one.I was wondering how well FSX Queen plays on Windows 7 and what would be the best video card for me to buy?I currently have the following Gateway FX530SWindows XPIntel Core 2 Quad Preocesor Q6600 (2.40GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache)2048MB 667Mhz Dual-Channel DDR2 SDRAMVideo Card NVIDIA Geforce 8600GT 512MB Dual DVI w/VGA adapterThanks for help in advanceIan Snow
June 22, 201015 yr The PMDG simulations run as well in W7 as any system, go to 64b if you have motherboard drivers that support it.Your video card is not your bottleneck to performance for MSFS, which would be the CPU. Just my opinion. Dan Downs KCRP
June 22, 201015 yr My [email protected] is not enough to play PMDG JS41 at some nice detail level. If You don't care about graphics maybe simple OC will do the trick, but if You think about setting sliders at least to 'middle high', then You'll need stronger system.Second thing is RAM. Windows7 will use more than 1GB and FSX needs 1GB at 'medium low'. You may ran out of memory fast.
