June 29, 201015 yr I have been plagued by the texture popping from day 0ne with FSX. Always happened when I was flying the pattern or just tooling around on the taxiway. Little black or white texture flashes. Im running a high end system and was getting frustrated so I did some research. I dug around and noticed I installed GEX and REX on my C: SSD and all my other files on Drive X: for FSX. Uninstalled both files and deleted the folders, then reinstalled both programs on my X: Drive and lo and behold my texture flashing is gone. Might be something you can check out if your running FSX on a seperate drive and have the texture flashing problem.
June 29, 201015 yr Moderator Or it could just be the reinstall fixed a corrupt file. Second test - reinstall the original way and see if the flashing comes back.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
June 29, 201015 yr I reinstalled GEX back onto the SSD and no problems occured. I reinstalled REX and the texture flashes came back. Must be something with the read speeds of the hard drives. 250mb vs 90mb read speeds.
June 29, 201015 yr Moderator Interesting. Are you using the 4096 textures? You might try it with the 1024's and confirm your suspicions. Altho if I understand correctly, your textures are on the FASTEST (SSD) drive - I would think it would be the other way around.Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
July 4, 201015 yr I will just add this: I also have a high end system..I7980XGTX 480XMOBO Asus p6X58D Premium12 G of ddr3I am running REX2, FsCommander and FSX on drive C:\ which is a Western Raptor drive 10K rpmI have all my settings max out with the sliders all the way to the right...Running PMDG 747-400 or MD-11Parked and found backing out parking lines, taxi stripes and etc were bouncing around...Solved the problem by turning off or unclicked the FSX DX10 preview box.So far no more problems. No crashes no blue screens I changed the fsx.cfg file to add affinity mask=255 this turned on more cores...and makes the program run super smooth...like floating through the air...Rex2 runs with real clouds, storms and etc...Running fps set at 30....because in my opinion you can't tell the difference above 15fps anyway...So that's the results so far...FDX183DVA7725 Bob Adams
July 4, 201015 yr @ Hornplayeryour affinity mask setting is for an 8 core machine, the 980x is a 6 or 12 core machine depending on whether you use hyper threading so I don't think that value is idealfor 6 cores your setting should be: 63For 12: 4095
July 8, 201015 yr Thanks...I will reset the Affinity Mask=63 and see what happens...Learn something everyday.... Bob Adams
