July 5, 201015 yr Fireworks aren't actually all that spectacular from the air, and they seldom require a TFR, unless I suppose they're within close vicinity to an airport (Very close)The reflecting pool is a ways off though, from the ground they look spectacular, but they only climb a few hundred feet at best, 500' is enough to clear them. in otherwords, fireworks are really a non factor for aircraft. Saw something interesting watching the Fireworks over Washington on TV last night. The fireworks were being launched from the western portion of the Reflecting Pool near the Lincoln Memorial. Aircraft though were still landing via the River approach on Runway 19 at DCA. I would think that would be a little too close and they would have closed that runway during the show. Regardless the passengers on the left side were treated to quite a sight from the air and being that close!

From that level fireworks up close would be very impressive. I worked in an Office Building right next to the Brooklyn Bridge in New York on the 26th floor which because it was a Telephone building were actually doubled floored (About 450ft), during it's centennial fireworks display, We were watching it from the window, and it was like they were exploding right in my face!
