d3d9.dll errors

Featured Replies

Installed a GTX 470 a couple weeks back. Was using the 257.21 drivers with good result (FS9, XP 32). Started to get crashes to black and screen freezes with the "d3d9.dll" error. Ran dxdiag and it said that my d3d9.dll was old and to update DirectX. Did that...still tells me my version of d3d9.dll is old. Not sure what to do at this point. Is there any way to update this dll? Any help welcome.

Uninstall the video driver and then reboot into 'safe mode' and run 'driver sweeper', then reinstall driver. Hopefully that will help.Note that a lot of people have trouble with the 480 in WXP; most likely due to the newer driver code.

Have done all the above...and continue to get different errors related to video issues. Am coming to the conclusion that this set of drivers does not get along well with flightsim (at least on my machine). Amazing how an upgrade to better hardware can open up a whole new can-o-worms!

If you are using the bufferpools tweak try a different setting. I've seen this error sometimes with a poolsize of zero.Steve

I believe the bufferpools tweak applies only to FSX. Not up to speed on this tweak.

For what its worth I was getting this error consistently out of nowwhere. (APPCRASH with 93d9.dll)After a whole re-install etc it boiled down to my version of MSI's Afterburner for the Nvidia 470!!Once disabled, the errors completley vanished.
